Minister for the NDIS. Minister for Government Services. Member for Maribyrnong. at Australian Government

STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF KEVIN ANDREWS I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kevin Andrews, who died peacefully overnight following a year-long cancer battle.   While we were opposed on many political fronts, I respected that he always fought for his values: what you saw was what you got. He was a gentleman who wore his faith with pride. In his final term, he did  excellent work charing the Joint Committee on the NDIS on a bi-partisan basis as an experienced parliamentarian committed to the best interests of NDIS participants. Kevin always prioritised his health, keeping very fit and a keen cyclist. He was determined to never waste a moment. I understand he kept working right up until the end and was writing his memoirs.    My condolences to his wife Margie and family. Vale Kevin.

Vale Kevin Also Kudos to you Bill. This is a lovely tribute to a man from the other side of the political divide. It is the best of our representatives when they can engage with their ideological opponents with civility and humanity. We would be a better society if more followed your example here.

Thanks so much for posting this Bill Shorten it is so important to acknowledge people on “the other side“, especially in politics where I believe most people go in with the intent to act in the service of others, recognising this can get mixed up in the to-and-fro of day-to-day issues. RIP Kevin Andrews.

This is why you are one of the best, Bill! You have always been able to put your politics aside and give kudos to the other team.
