😱 Finally I can reveal a secret to you I have kept for almost half a year: I am officially a PH.D. Candidate! I am incredibly proud to share with you that I am part of the program of "Dissertantinnen für Zukunftsthemen der Wirtschaft" by the Bundesministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Energie, Mobilität, Innovation & Technologie. Pinch me - 2024 is definitely a wild ride so far - and I have the feeling that the last quarter is increasing the speed even more. One year ago, I started a deep dive into the #AutomotiveIndustry. The decarbonization of the supply chain & the corporate carbon footprint is one of the main challenges the many stakeholders are facing. From sourcing materials to the transportation and energy forms used in production - many aspects play a key role towards Net Zero in the long run. Only with cooperation and working closely together, this challenge can be mastered. After insightful discussions and research - especially on the use of greener materials - I developed the idea to start a pilot project with different stakeholders in the supply chain. The goal? Taking on the ultimate challenge the #EuropeanUnion is pushing with the #GreenDeal and the #EndofLifeVehicleDirective: creating a circular material flow. I am already in the middle of preparing the project itself and I will share more details with you soon. Thank you to all of the project partners from the bottom of my heart - for supporting my visions & making this project come alive! Almost there! This Thursday and Friday, we’ll put #biodiversity, #technology and nature’s #capital front and center at our #DLDNature conference at the Munich Urban Colab. We’re excited to welcome a stellar group speakers from #science, #business, #politics and #culture – including Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; Johan Rockström, Director of the PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research; transformation expert Maja Göpel; and Dirk Rossmann, founder of one of Europe’s largest drugstore chains, Dirk Rossmann GmbH. The list could go on and on, with far too many exciting speakers for one post, so we’ve put together an overview on our website: https://lnkd.in/eNwX5zKU As you’ll see we’re covering a wide range of topics because first, we need to understand where the planet is hurting – from #species loss to #overfishing, #deforestation, industrial #agriculture and #climatechange. Fixing these issues will require a big rethink of our economic system and the way we do #business. But the good news is: Many new #technologies are here to help – think #AI, #sensor data, #satellite monitoring and better #supplychain control. Corporate #leaders who think ahead and make their business more #sustainable can hope to be richly rewarded by #customers and #investors, as well as young #talent looking to align their #career with their #values. We’ll discuss all this, and more, at DLD Nature. Please note that ticket applications are now closed – but you’ll still be able to join us online via #livestream on our website. We look forward to seeing you, in person or online, on Thursday – to truly make the world a better place.

Yesterday, Mayor of Groningen Koen Schuiling opened the " Nij Begun" Pitch meeting of the Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology and AI. Nij Begun is a governmental investment program for the coming 30 years to support social-economical and sustainable development in Groningen and North Drenthe. The pitch event was centered around exploring how AI and/or digitalisation can contribute to the Economic Agenda of Nij Begun; on the way to recognition, recovery, and perspective. The Mayor stressed the inter-sectoral collaboration between knowledge institutions and other public and private parties in the North of The Netherlands. " Think of your children or grandchildren 30 years from now, he said." Building and maintaining inter-sectoral consortia like the Consortium " Medicine waste reduction in North Netherlands" led by TCNN is therefore crucial to develop and maintain a sustainable future. Digitilization, linkage and visualization of pharmacy, health and socio-economic data can pave the way for priority setting and monitoring in the North of the Netherlands. The Medicijnkaart Noord Nederland (https://lnkd.in/ensb4TMR) is a start and will be crucial in prioritizing preventive health interventions, and to spot geographical risk areas where novel purification and clearing systems are needed to reduce pollution. #nijbegun #medicinewaste #sustainablepharmacy #planetaryhealth Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology & AI, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen Bioclear earth, zereau®, Van Remmen UV Technology, Erika Brattinga-Róth, Lifelines_NL, Jochen Mierau, Ronald Stolk, Erik Buskens, Carli Aulich, Caroline Moermond, Henk Vermaat, Nicolai F., Samenwerkingsverband Noord-Nederland (SNN), Gerda Brilleman-Brondijk, Marloes Luitwieler Gerrit Poelarends Peter Horvatovich

I believe the U.S. government's Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs program (Tech Hubs) is a useful approach to achieving technology leadership and sovereignty. Maybe we should start such an initiative in Germany too for our important industries and companies, and the jobs they create, to start, grow, and remain in Germany. The good thing is that we don't have to start from scratch. There are already powerful #technology cluster in many regions, such as it's OWL in the triangle of Bielefeld, Lemgo and Paderborn, which could be developed to the next level. Universität Bielefeld, Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Universität Paderborn, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, Fraunhofer IEM, CENTRUM INDUSTRIAL IT (CIIT) e.
