#CareerMoves #JobSwitch #SoftwareDeveloper Hey everyone! 🌟 I wanted to bring up something that’s been on my mind lately. Imagine you’re a Software Developer Level 2 at State Farm making $100,000 a year. You decide to take the plunge and apply for another Software Developer Level 2 role at American Express, where the pay is... drumroll, please... also $100,000. 😕 So, here’s the big question: Is this a waste of time? 🤔 Let’s break it down: Same Role, Same Pay: If you're just switching jobs for the same position and pay, it might seem like you’re going in circles. But is it really? Company Culture: Sometimes a change of scenery can make all the difference! The culture at American Express might be vastly different from State Farm. A more supportive environment could enhance your job satisfaction. 🌈 Network Expansion: Moving to a new company means new people! This could expand your professional network, which might lead to future opportunities. Skills and Experience: Each job ad... Is Switching Jobs Without a Raise a Career Mistake for Developers? I think I needed a good 48 hours to let it sink in the way it has for others in my network who work at Intuit (...or used to work at Intuit). One of the reasons I felt so strongly, so proud, and so excited to return to work here was because I have cherished memories from my time there prior (2010 - 2013). Great culture, great benefits: outstanding people. In my current role, I met so many brilliant data scientists, empathetic benefits program managers, dedicated talent acquisition team members; so many wonderful leaders, directors who listen, humble mentors who care. I can honestly say I have loved the complex and meaningful work, and most of all the working relationships, I built throughout this year. What changed in the last few weeks? What foreshadowing was available for us to notice. It would seem.. nothing, really. In fact, Intuit has actually done this precise move before: in 2020. You can read more about that, here: https://lnkd.in/gaB6tnEt I am excited, eager even, to join a team of highly collaborative, imaginative, and productive analysts, product managers, and engineers. In my 13+ year career, I’ve worked as a product manager, business analyst, and project manager — a leader and a doer, a player and a coach — to make transformation happen. If you personally know of any pivotal roles or key people to introduce me to, I’d greatly welcome a private message and a warm introduction. And if you were impacted by this layoff and you want to talk, ask for an introduction, or reflect on your resume — I am more than happy to make time for my Intuit family. #Intuit #OpenToWork

We're hiring again 🫢 Team member # 6! This time, a Northeastern co-op. Hiring a co-op is so full-circle👇🏽 Having gone to Northeastern University and having done two co-ops there, I've spent my fair share of time on NUworks (the job listing software). Opening NUworks used to feel like opening a treasure box. Every time I'd open the software, I felt like I was going through different futures that I could have with every new job posting I saw. I'd spend time dreaming of moving to NYC or LA and working at a cool company for six months. And now I'm super grateful to be on the employer side and be able to offer an opportunity to join our small team in NYC for 6 months. We're a Northeastern company at our core, having had all first 4 team members at Alia graduating in 2023 from NEU. Being able to post on NUworks fills my heart with joy, excitement, and a super optimistic view of the future as we've been seeing some great applications come in already. Feel free to share this post with anyone at NEU that you think could be a good fit. Here's what we're looking for: Skills - Experience in design with an interest in creating bespoke mock-ups for high-ticket clients. - Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey ideas and present design concepts to clients and team members. - Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to client-specific requirements, translating feedback into actionable design updates. - Strong time management skills, capable of balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. - Basic understanding of CSS. (good to have!) Personal Qualities: - Creative thinker with an eye for detail and an appreciation for high-quality design. - Eagerness to take initiative and to contribute new ideas. - Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving work environment. - Problem-solver with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and finding solutions. - Strong desire to learn and grow in a startup setting, especially in client engagement and design. -- Can't wait to welcome team member # 6 soon ❤️

We are hiring for Entry level Software Engineers! It’s crazy to see the amount of reach and comments a post gets with a similar line above. This depicts the level of competition and what is now called an employer’s market. Its more difficult to find a job in tech than it was 5 years ago. Forget tech. I was searching for a minimum wage part-time job for 3 months. What can we do to raise our odds in this tough market? • The first thing to do is to stop mass applying. • Focus on the quality of your application. Go all in for that one application you think you’re a good fit. • Often times we focus on the outcome (like, “Even if I do all this, what are the chances my resume gets selected?”) and fail to give our 100%. This is just one thing that would help improve the odds out of a 100 more. Comment “I’m interested” and I’ll connect with you. Edit: This post's reach and comments proves the point I was trying to make. #jobmarket #jobsearchtips #jobseekers #qualityoverquantity #improveyourodds #hiring #hiringmeme #marketreality #tech #software

Hiring Overseas Software Engineers? Let's Make Communication Easy We all know that hiring software engineers from overseas can be tricky. Communication barriers—like cultural differences, accents, time zones, and just not being on the same page—can end up costing you time, energy, and money. And if it goes wrong, it can really put you off from hiring overseas talent again. But that's where we come in. We're a team of three mid-senior engineers with experience at big companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Deloitte. We know the ins and outs of working with overseas developers and have cracked the code to make it work smoothly. We don’t just find skilled developers; we make sure they’re onboarded right and trained to follow a system that keeps communication clear and projects on track. Right now, we’re only looking to take on two more clients who fit our bandwidth. If you think we might be a good match, let’s chat! Book a free consultation call, and let’s see if we’re a good fit for each other. #overseas #remote #softwaredeveloper #outsourcing #softwareengineer

It would take 28 days for me to walk from Westminster in London, to Berlin, including time for sleep, breaks, and the Channel crossing. Mind-blowing to think that this is also the average time it takes a company to hire a Software Engineer. If your hiring is taking longer than 28 days, there's a problem. A problem that means you risk losing top talent to competitors, burning out your existing team whilst they cover the work, and negatively impacting your market reputation. Find the problem, find your hire 💙 #Recruitment #Technology #SoftwareEngineering #Careers #Hiring Kioni Talent

Why Is Intuit Hiring a Private Jet Coordinator After Massive Layoffs? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gzQvqPKY #Intuit #JobMarket #WorkplaceTrends #PrivateJetManagement So, here’s a head-scratcher: Intuit, the same company that laid off more than 1,000 employees just last year, is now searching for an Executive Travel Program Manager to coordinate their executives’ private jet travels.🤔 It raises a few eyebrows, doesn’t it? Here are some reflections on the situation: Priorities Matter: Instead of laying off staff who might have been valuable, could these executives cut back on extravagant travel expenses? Culture Shift: The disconnect between the layoffs and the need for a jet coordinator reflects a potential misalignment in corporate values versus actions. Resource Allocation: Resources could be better used to retain workers or improve employee well-being instead of facilitating luxurious travel. ✈️ The job description highlights some responsibilities, like: Managing daily operations of the executive travel program. Overseeing executive private aviation to ensure high-quality services. Analyzing jet usage to optimize bills and resource usage. Faci...
