You win some, you lose some. Everybody who plays games knows that. Admittedly, we tend to quote this phrase more often after a loss. But guess what? ***Wise Guys Events won the Bernie DeKoven Big Fun Award*** If you're not familiar with Bernie - friends called him Blue - and his work, you are in for a real treat. Bernie was an influential game designer, scholar, and author in the 20th century (ha). He was instrumental in the design of many games and activities you know, even if you aren't otherwise familiar with this field. Ever heard of Ultimate Frisbee? The parachute game from elementary school P.E.? If you answered yes, you know Bernie's legacy. Before his death, Bernie worked in partnership with IndieCade, the International Festival of Independent Games, to create an award in his name to support and promote the longevity of his life's work: silly monkey business. And this year, IndieCade adjudicators honored Wise Guys Events by awarding unto us the Bernie DeKoven Big Fun Award. Head Honcho Myles Nye will be present in LA to accept the award, to participate in IndieCade Night Games, and to join a Creators' Retreat. If you're in downtown LA on Friday or Saturday night, stop by to say hello. And join in the fun! It's what Bernie would have done.

Planning Christmas activities for both staff and the community can take a lot of work alongside day to day business tasks. We started planning a month ago! How do you juggle finding time to prepare for Christmas and ensuring day to day business continues as normal? and the big question is, is it ever too early to start? 🎄 As a big Christmas fan, my answer is no, it’s never too early! But between Christmas social media content, client messages, staff Christmas parties, community/charity support and more… time can escape you very quickly! We like to make sure we have a team involved, rather than it being one person’s responsibility so we can achieve more in a shorter space of time and it remains manageable! Over a year ago my husband, Dean Peaple , joined this company to launch a new division of window coverings. I did not expect people would enjoy this opportunity to connect with friends and strangers over fun questions and be so competitive. Today is a special day at The Beer District where I am hosting the end of the month championship round of the Quiz Night Connect where the winning team walks away with 20K. You heard me right. Though not every team can win the 20K. So how does this work? Each week when you win first or second place, you win 5K and automatically qualify for the championship round at the last Tuesday of the month. Outside of the money, it's a practical and exciting way to network and have fun with your colleagues, clients and potential clients after work.
