Today marks the last day of IPBES’s 11th Plenary, a vital summit bringing together policy-makers and scientists in pursuit of a resilient biodiversity agenda #ForOurPlanet. Over the last seven days, representatives from almost 150 national governments attended sessions in the Namibian city of Windhoek for a week of intense discussions and exchanges. Crucially, the plenary has seen arduous negotiations on the 2 key documents - the IPBES Nexus Assessment and the IPBES #TransformativeChange Assessment. Following years of expert-led research, these outputs have the potential to help guide the biodiversity policies of tomorrow. All eyes will be on the outcomes of today’s concluding session which will make it apparent whether the two reports will be approved by the delegates, thereby providing the international community with new knowledge tools on the road to sustainability. #Biodiversity #ForNature

We are honoured to have been featured in the International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits (IAPB) Framework, a landmark in the development of high-integrity biodiversity credit markets. Launched at #COP16, this framework provides essential guidelines for these emerging markets, spotlighting 31 pilot projects globally, our Chewore South project in Zimbabwe among them. Biodiversity Credits represent a transformative approach to channelling funds into conservation efforts. As outlined in the framework, we are committed to ensuring that the interests of local communities remain at the centre of the development of this market from the outset. We are grateful to the IAPB for their leadership and proud to contribute to the future of nature-based solutions. https://lnkd.in/dQA4uSEv #BiodiversityCredits #ConservationFinance

Biodiversity underpins all economic activities and human well-being. Yet biodiversity - and the ecosystem services it provides - continue to decline at an alarming rate. Halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030 will require urgent action to mobilise finance for biodiversity from all sources, public and private, domestic and international. Speaking ahead of COP16, Pollination Senior Advisor Helen Crowley will be joining the High-Level Plenary on 'Mobilising private finance for biodiversity' at the OECD - OCDE Forum on Green Finance & Investment on 16 October. This session will bring together leaders from the private sector to explore incentives, investment barriers and opportunities for scaling up private biodiversity finance. It will focus on biodiversity financing instruments, investment projects and financing channels, including blending of public and private finance. #DYK that only a handful of 28 developed countries are currently contributing their fair share to the landmark 2022 Kunming-Montréal Global Biodiversity Framework? Having collectively agreed to provide $20 billion per year in biodiversity finance to developing countries, most developed countries must double their 2024 funding amounts in order to help halt and reverse #biodiversity loss. As one of only a few countries close to meeting their fair share of international biodiversity finance, we want to recognize the leadership of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMZ) in providing funding to #CLARIFI to support the self-determined priorities of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and Afro-descendent Peoples who are implementing holistic solutions to address the global biodiversity crisis. We encourage all wealthy nations to meet their fair share of the Global Biodiversity Framework and scale up support for communities that are already playing a critical role in safeguarding nature. #LandRightsNow To learn more, read this new report commissioned by our friends and colleagues at Campaign for Nature 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/gBdpdKYf
