🌊 World Ocean Day 🌊 💡 Did you know that materials like paper, cardboard and food, which are biodegradable - disintegrate, degrade and get eaten by microorganisms in the ocean? Plastic, on the other hand, continues to pollute the oceans and hinder aquatic life until it is extracted from the oceans. Only to spend the rest of its lifespan in a landfill. Plastic bags alone have been known to take the lives of so many animals in the oceans, who have nowhere else to be except in their natural habitats. We share this planet with such beautiful and diverse living beings, and our actions will inevitably affect them. Currently, more than 700 marine species are at risk of going extinct—many already have! It's our responsibility to reverse the threat on the lives of our fellow living beings. We urge businesses to go green and opt for cardboard packaging wherever possible - this will go a long way in restoring and maintaining the life in our oceans 🐳 🐋 🐬 🐟 🐠 🐡 🦈 🐙 🐚 https://lnkd.in/gjMR78Ke #sustainablepackaging #worldoceanday #packagingaustralia #greenpackaging #cardboardpackaging

The construction industry has a massive impact on environmental pollution and resource depletion. But change is on the horizon. Visionaries around the world are exploring innovative, sustainable building materials that are transforming the way we think about eco-friendly housing. One powerful example? Recycled plastic waste. Imagine taking what others throw away and turning it into the foundation of a new community. That’s exactly what Robert Bezeau achieved when he collected over a million plastic bottles and built an entire village from this unconventional material. His PLASTIC BOTTLE VILLAGE showcases how discarded waste can become someone’s home and a potential solution to our global plastic crisis. And plastic isn’t the only answer. Materials like HEMPCRETE CONCRETE — a composite made from hemp fibers and a lime-based binder—are also emerging as game-changers. Known for its durability, low environmental impact, and outstanding insulation, hempcrete offers a sustainable choice for construction. By supporting sustainable housing solutions, you’re contributing to a cleaner planet and innovative housing solutions for future generations. Share this with others who care about a sustainable future, and consider sponsoring our programs to help make eco-friendly housing a reality. Together, we can turn waste into homes and create a greener world. #Weareforimpact #supportingsustainability #helpingtheneedy #thepeopleshub Click for a full read https://lnkd.in/d5A_5AGc

Choose Recycled Paper for a Sustainable Future! 🌍 Recycled paper isn't just an eco-friendly choice—it's a game-changer in sustainability. Unlike virgin paper, which requires fresh wood pulp, recycled paper significantly reduces our environmental impact. - Water & Energy Conservation: Producing recycled paper consumes less water and energy than virgin paper, easing the strain on freshwater sources and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. - Preserving Forests & Wildlife: Each ton of recycled paper saves approximately 17 trees, preserving forests and their diverse ecosystems. This helps safeguard habitats and biodiversity for future generations. - Closing the Loop: Recycling paper reduces landfill waste and conserves resources like wood pulp and minerals used in new paper production. It's a vital step towards a circular economy. - Quality & Economy: Today's recycled paper matches the quality of virgin paper, supporting both environmental goals and economic growth. It creates jobs in recycling and manufacturing sectors while benefiting local communities. Choosing recycled paper isn't just about making a purchase—it's about making a positive impact. Every time you opt for recycled paper, you're contributing to a greener future and setting an example for others. Let's unite in support of recycled paper to build a sustainable world together! We are leading the way in creating a local circular economy, with the completion of the new 883 metre long retention wall in Semaphore, to protect the coastline from erosion, made entirely from recycled materials. This replaces the old fence which was heavily damaged beyond repair during a storm a few years ago. This new fence highlights a cutting-edge approach to sustainable development, using over 105,000 kg of reclaimed timber and recycled plastic, and repurposing the equivalent of more than one million two-litre plastic milk bottles. This effort diverted around 3,680 cubic metres of plastic from landfills, marking a significant achievement in sustainability. Designed, manufactured, and supplied entirely in South Australia, this environmentally sustainable alternative is chemical-free, low maintenance, durable, and user-friendly. Unlike wood and steel products, it poses no risk of sharp edges or splinters. We worked alongside APR Composites, a local business that repurposes local waste materials into high-quality products like boardwalks, bollards, and outdoor furniture. With over one million kilograms of plastic repurposed annually, APR Composites is at the forefront of helping us create innovative uses for materials as we continue to create a local circular waste economy. Here at the City of PAE, we continue to integrate sustainable practices into projects, with many materials beginning their new life at our Central Adelaide Waste and Recycling Facility in Kilburn, which is owned by the City of PAE and City of Charles Sturt. This facility takes in raw recycled materials from yellow bins and sorts them for distribution to businesses like APR Composites, where they are turned into new products. This project was undertaken in four stages; Stage 1 – June 2020 Stage 2 – April 2024 Stage 3 – July 2024 Stage 4 – July 2024

Are wooden pallets bad for the environment? Well, not necessarily. But when used incorrectly, they definitely can be. As with all industries, there are responsible and irresponsible manufacturers and suppliers. This is a fact you shouldn't ignore if you're looking to partner up. When irresponsible manufacturers and suppliers get their hands on perfectly sustainable wood pallets, they can still use them in a non-environmentally friendly way, damage the planet, and up your costs. So how do you manage this? You read our blog and find out what you can do to not be deceived, of course!

Our Earth is facing serious challenges from environmental pollution, especially from the use and disposal of single-use plastic products. In this context, switching to single-use products made from wood has emerged as an intriguing and sustainable choice. Let's contemplate and take action to make this change, so that we can build a brighter future for our planet. Using single-use products made from wood is not only an environmentally friendly choice but also a profoundly meaningful cultural act. Wood, with its natural beauty and biodegradable properties, is a renewable resource that poses no harm to the environment. Instead of drowning in a sea of non-degradable plastic, we can opt for single-use products such as straws, utensils, plates, and cups made from wood to reduce waste and environmental pollution. Transitioning to the use of single-use wooden products is also a positive step in promoting the development of a sustainable wood industry. Increasing the use of wood from renewable sources not only helps protect natural forests but also creates business opportunities and jobs for local communities. We can support businesses that manufacture and distribute single-use wooden products, while encouraging organizations and individuals around us to join this movement. To achieve a true transformation, we need consensus and action from the community. Let's start with ourselves, by choosing single-use wooden products in our daily activities. Let's share ideas and raise social awareness about the benefits of using wood as an environmentally friendly option. And let's support and promote efforts from businesses and social organizations to spread this movement. Let's change together, step by step, so that using single-use wooden products not only becomes a trend but also a new way of life, a symbol of our wisdom and responsibility towards the environment. We can do this, and let's start right now!
