#30Days30Stories - Day 25 The initiative to bring incredible stories of women from the manufacturing world continues, and today, we bring you the story of Shilpa Apte, Administrative Manager of PolyWorks India. Shilpa's curiosity about the manufacturing world was sparked by her husband, Rahul Apte, a veteran in the sector for over two decades. At the heart of PolyWorks India's operations lies a commitment to revolutionising the manufacturing sector with state-of-the-art 3D metrology software. Shilpa describes the software's primary applications as "dimensional analysis, quality control, and reverse engineering." Despite acknowledging the current gender ratio disparity, Shilpa remains optimistic about achieving a balanced representation. "The industry is gradually evolving, and I believe we're on our way to a more balanced gender representation," she asserts, underlining the gradual yet positive changes towards gender inclusivity in the sector. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners, Indfrag Biosciences Pvt Ltd and HYDAX Private Limited, for helping us bring these stories to light. Stay tuned as we explore more remarkable journeys of women making significant strides in manufacturing. #Womanufacturing #InvestingInWomenv #ManufacturingExcellence #WomenInManufacturing #Empowerment #manufacturing #engineeringexcellence #womenengineers #innovations #womeninleadership #genderinclusion

Need and Trends on hiring Woman in Semiconductor #Leadership Roles: During the last 10 months post meeting and talking to multiple clients and leaders in the Semiconductor industry, I would like to share few inputs that many CEO.s Technical Semiconductor expertised Directors, CHRO, HR Heads discussed in One Voice. Semiconductor industry is actively working to increase #gender #diversity, particularly by including more women in leadership roles. They said that data reveal that companies with diverse leadership teams are 21% more likely to outperform their peers in profitability. Their efforts are increasingly focused on raising the percentage of women in senior technical and executive roles. Many companies to name a few, like Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) have launched initiatives such as the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI), designed to increase the presence of women at executive and board levels. These programs also provide mentorship and networking opportunities to encourage women to enter and grow within the sector. Intel and TSMC setting targets to ensure 30% of leadership roles are filled by women by 2030. Initiatives like Women in Semiconductors (WIS) and industry conferences have also become vital platforms for discussions on gender diversity, aiming to promote inclusion across the workforce. The gender gap in the semiconductor industry remains, with women currently occupying only 20% of the workforce in technical roles. However, 2024 has seen a strong push for recruitment and mentorship programs to narrow this gap, with companies targeting a 10-15% increase in hiring woman in leadership roles by 2025. Sharing few of the Inspiring and successful #WomenLeaders in Semiconductor Industry and Their Impact: @Dr.Lisa Su – CEO, AMD Dr. Su revitalized AMD by leading the company’s resurgence in high-performance computing and graphics, growing its market share significantly. @Debora Shoquist – EVP of Operations, NVIDIA Shoquist expanded NVIDIA’s global operations and supply chain, cementing the company's leadership in #AI and GPU technology. @Lalitha Suryanarayana – VP of Strategy, Infineon Technologies Suryanarayana has been instrumental in shaping Infineon’ strategy in power. automotive, and IoT sectors, ensuring sustained industry leadership. @Karuna Annavajjala – CIO, Silicon Labs Annavajjala has transformed IT at Silicon Labs, streamlining global operations and prioritizing cybersecurity and privacy. @Nivruti Rai – Former Head of Intel India, Intel Rai spearheaded Intel India’s advancements in AI, 5G, and cloud computing, and championed #STEM careers for women. @Rani Borkar – Corporate VP, Azure Hardware Systems, Microsoft Borkar played a key role in building Azure’s cloud infrastructure, now serving over 95% of Fortune 500 companies These leaders have shaped the #semiconductor industry by driving innovation, expanding markets, and breaking gender barriers at the highest levels of technical and business operations

#India's 🇮🇳 #Semiconductor #Future Offers #Lucrative #Careers, But Will #Women #Answer The Call? By— Bhaswati Guha Majumder | March 28, 2024, ||Globally, the semiconductor industry has been predominantly male-dominated, with women comprising only a fraction of the workforce, including in technical leadership positions|| #Union #Minister #AshwiniVaishnaw recently said about 45 executives from various semiconductor companies expressed a unanimous sentiment that India stands as the next natural frontier for semiconductor manufacturing, highlighting the country’s future potential and how big the industry could be. However, to fully harness the potential, particularly in the chip sector, a substantial influx of tech talent and engineering prowess — with equal representation from both men and women — is imperative. Data from the All India Survey on Higher Education (#AISHE) 2021-22 sheds light on the gender distribution in engineering and technology studies at the undergraduate level. Of 39.04 lakh enrolled students, just 29.1 per cent are female and 70.9 per cent are male. This stands in stark contrast to disciplines like Arts and Medical Sciences, where gender parity is more evident. Within the broader spectrum of #STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), of the 98,49,488, total enrolment (at #UG, #PG, #MPhil and #PhD levels), 56,56,488 are #males and 41,93,000 are #females. The data showed that in engineering and technology, male enrolment is significantly higher compared to females. This poses potential challenges for achieving gender diversity in specialised sectors like semiconductors. Delving into the intricacies of the semiconductor industry, it becomes apparent that a diverse workforce is crucial, given the multifaceted skill requirements. For example, roles such as Semiconductor Technicians, Process Engineers, and Equipment Engineers demand a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills. #Global #Semiconductor #Alliance (#GSA) #IESA Semiconductor Nation - Campus Connect News18.com #Details: ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/gmPP5Q6U

I am sitting on the plane with gratitude reflecting on an incredible evening spent with the Silicon Valley Education Foundation last night. It was an absolute honor to be invited as a keynote speaker for such a forward-thinking and impactful organization. My talk centered on a topic close to my heart: creating an aspirational future for women and girls in AI. In a field that's rapidly evolving, it's crucial we ensure it evolves inclusively. A special shoutout to Carolyn Henry and Sandra Rivera Ramirez from Intel for their insightful contributions and for standing as exemplary figures of leadership and innovation in technology. Their work and dedication inspire a future where diversity in AI and technology isn't just an aspiration but a reality. S. Monica Soni, MD - your insight into the abyss of disparity in healthcare was both illuminating and disturbing. I am hopeful that the team captured a photo of the four of us. The engagement, questions, and discussions from last night were a powerful reminder of the collective drive and passion we share for not only advancing technology but ensuring it's a force for inclusive progress. Let's continue to champion diversity, push for inclusivity, and inspire the next generation of women in AI and tech. Together, we can shape a future where everyone has a seat at the table, and no aspiration is out of reach. #SiliconValleyEducationFoundation #WomenInAI #DiversityInTech #susansly #sandraramirez #intel #carolynhenry
