Innovator and Leader – CEO of UC Davis Health and Vice Chancellor for Human Health Sciences, UC Davis Health; 100 Most Influential People in Health Care (Modern Healthcare)

The year 2025 will be one of transition as I retire from UC Davis Health and begin a new role as the president and CEO of Westchester Medical Center Health Network. With a focus on improving patient care in innovative and dynamic ways, I’m excited to work with the network’s executive leadership and their teams as we shape the future of health care in this region of New York (near where I grew up). Patients will be at the center of everything we do. I express my heartfelt gratitude to Chancellor Gary S. May for his outstanding support and wisdom during my tenure for the past six and one-half years. And, I'm so proud of our executive leadership team and all our employees who have worked so masterfully to position the health system for future success in a fast-changing health care landscape. A few highlights of what we’ve accomplished working together: ·      UC Davis Health has become one of the top health systems in the nation for patient outcomes (and now in the top five nationally for reduced mortality). ·      We’ve increased the number of patients by more than 60%. ·      We’ve increased and diversified our faculty and staff. ·      UC Davis Health is now recognized as an employer of choice on multiple national lists of best places to work. My deep appreciation extends to everyone – our employees, patients, friends and community allies – who are connected to this remarkable organization and have shared in this transformational journey. You inspire me in countless ways – thank you from the bottom of my heart!

You’ve always impressed with your patient first approach and your dedication to quality physician-led programs. The results speak for themselves. After you move, I’d recommend a new wool sweater or vest from Weavers of Ireland, you’ll need it. 😎

I learned about the concept of patient safety from you way back when - "patient-centric" is second nature to you. Congratulations on your accomplishments and what is yet to come!

Wishing you the very best in your new endeavors! I thoroughly enjoyed your posts and learning about all your and your organization was achieving. Of course, I am a little bit partial to UCD due to my daughter and son-in-law graduating from there. Merry Christmas 🎄
