Throughout this decade, numerous high-profile transactions have underscored the significant value of patents. For instance, in 2013, Kodak's sale of approximately 1000 digital photography patents commanded an average price of around $500,000 per patent. Prior to that, Google's acquisition of 17,000 patents from Motorola also fetched a similar price per patent. Additionally, in 2012, Microsoft made headlines by paying over $1.2 million for each of the 800 patents acquired from AOL. Remarkably, within the same year, Microsoft further demonstrated the potency of patents in business dealings by selling several hundred patents to Facebook, each priced at $1 million. These transactions vividly illustrate the substantial worth and strategic importance of patents in the modern business landscape.
