I found this #noPriors podcast (hosted by Sarah Guo and Elad Gil) with Jensen Huang to be insightful, with one statement standing out in relation to #AI’s biggest opportunities for societal transformation: “The two main ‘brownfield’ robotic systems—meaning you don’t have to change the environment for them—are self-driving cars and embodied robots, like digital chauffeurs and human-assist robots. We could literally bring robotics to the world without changing the world, because we built the world for those two things. It’s probably no coincidence that Elon has focused on these forms of robotics; they have large potential scale. The digital version is equally exciting—we’re talking about digital or AI employees, and there’s no question we’re going to have AI employees of all kinds.” - Jensen Huang #Brownfield tech solutions plug into current systems without major infrastructure changes, making adoption easier and more immediate. This is in contrast to #greenfield projects, where entirely new infrastructure is created to support a novel technology. 🤔 How does this relate to #accounting? The concept of brownfield fits well with #cpa firms navigating #AI adoption. Change management is hard, and the more we hook into existing workflows, the faster and more effective the transformation will be. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ BUT (huge but :): This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t “remake the world.” Actually, for many #accounting firms, it is imperative to: • Standardize processes to ensure clean, consistent data • Upgrade data capture systems to enable better data quality • Change behavior to facilitate a better #culture for #talent retention When evaluating any #innovation initiative, #AI or not, a useful question is: ❓ How well does this tool align with our current environment, and where would we need to adapt? While brownfield deployments enable fast, scalable change, #accounting firms can be intentional about where process upgrades are necessary to harness AI’s full potential.
