🚨𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞’𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞!🚨
At MPR Agency we are always looking to keep our clients and partners informed of significant changes in the digital landscape. This week, Google released its November 2024 Core Update, aimed at refining the quality of search results by prioritizing genuinely helpful content over content that’s purely optimized for rankings.
𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑫𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒂 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒔? For the clinics, hospitals, and disease awareness platforms we manage, this update means we must be more intentional than ever about creating content that truly answers patient questions, educates the public, and aligns with CSR and awareness campaign goals.
According to Catalin Leontie, SEO Manager at MPR Agency, our recommendations over the next few weeks:
👉 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Check key metrics for your website. A core update can lead to shifts in visibility, so it’s essential to understand where adjustments might be needed.
👉𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁: Ensure that your web content is valuable, accurate, and addresses real patient needs. Content that feels overly optimized may see decreased visibility.
👉 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗘-𝗘-𝗔-𝗧 (𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀): Healthcare websites need to show authority and reliability. Now’s a good time to audit your content for these signals.
👉 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀: The rollout can take up to two weeks, and we will be closely monitoring its impact on our clients’ sites. Expect insights from us along the way!
If you’re curious about how this update could impact your specific initiatives, let’s connect and strategize together.

𝐀 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡’𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞?
Google regularly makes big changes to its system, called core updates, to show the most helpful and reliable content in search results.
These updates don’t target specific websites—they’re just about improving search results overall.
𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞’𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜:
If you see a drop in your website’s traffic around the time of a core update, it could be related.
You can use Google’s free tool, Search Console, to check if your traffic drop happened at the same time as the update. Wait a week after the update is complete before you analyze.
𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐯𝐬. 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬:
Small drop (like moving from rank 2 to 4): Don’t panic. It’s normal, and your content is still doing well.
Big drop (like moving from rank 4 to 29): You might want to dig deeper to see if you can make improvements.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐨 𝐢𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐩:
Review your website’s overall quality. Ask yourself if your content is genuinely helpful and aimed at real users, not just designed to rank well.
Check your top-performing pages to see if they could be more useful, well-organized, or easy to read.
𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐲:
Don’t do “quick fixes” (like just removing things you heard are bad for SEO). Instead, focus on real, user-friendly improvements.
Only delete content if it truly isn’t useful—think carefully before removing large sections.
𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬:
Improvement isn’t instant; it might take weeks or even months for Google to recognize changes.
Google updates are ongoing, so keep in mind that rankings can go up or down over time as content across the internet changes.

Overview:
If you notice a drop in traffic after a core update, wait a week and use Google Search Console to assess the impact. Compare your site's rankings before and after the update. Small drops may not need changes, but large drops should prompt a review of your content. Focus on user-centered, long-term improvements rather than quick fixes. It can take months to see results, and changes may not guarantee improved rankings due to Google's evolving algorithms.
