When reality shatters your carefully put-together plans, it’s nice to have a supportive community to help you pick up the pieces. That’s exactly what last week’s HR Forum meeting at our office was. An intimate gathering, but so powerful. HR heads from our portfolio companies, all in one room. Each one sharing, each one listening. We talked strategy, how sometimes plans just don't match up with real life, and how the past few months turned our yearly plans upside down. But more importantly, we shared our struggles and wins from the last few months. And you know what? It felt good. It felt supportive. Like someone had our back. 👉 Here's what we took away from the meet-up: → Strategy is important, but so is flexibility. → Having a community to discuss, disseminate, and push forward is critical to well-being and success on personal and organizational levels. → Celebrating the wins is a must, no matter how small, and no matter what else is going on. Transformation—if there were a Buzzword Hall of Fame, it’d be right up there with synergy and innovation. But despite its overuse, transformation truly captures the experience of the year for me, both professionally and personally. On the professional side, taking on my first role as CRO at BambooHR has been nothing short of transformative (see, I said it!). Leading a team dedicated to growing our people, driving revenue, and delivering an exceptional customer experience has been an adventure that’s kept me on my toes. On a personal note, this word took on a much deeper meaning. Last summer, my father-in-law lost an arm in an accident. Watching him learn to live this new reality with such courage, grit, and humor has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life. Spending time with him this holiday season, I’m reminded that true transformation isn’t about ambitious goals or strategic planning—it’s about adapting to adversity with grace, even when life doesn’t offer a playbook. So here’s to real transformation: the kind that tests your limits, redefines your perspective, and inspires you to keep going, one small step at a time. 2024 isn’t over yet, but it’s already taught me more about resilience and growth than I could have imagined.
