Officers responded to the Bank of America in Montebello regarding a patron who was causing a disturbance. Upon officer’s arrival, they discovered that a 92 year old man was trying to withdraw money from his account, however his California identification card was expired. Per the banks policy, because his identification card was expired, they were unable to fulfill his request. The gentleman was upset and the police were called. Once officers arrived, Officer Robert Josett decided to take the man to the DMV in town to help him renew his identification card. With the assistance of the DMV, his identification card was renewed and he was taken back to the bank at which time he was able to withdraw money from his account. He thanked Officer Josett and went on his way. Story Credit: Montebello Police Department
Proper use of authority
Shame on BofA! Doesn't this old guy already have a long relationship with them?? The ID may be expired, but he certainly wasn't! Policies aren't laws or even rules, and a person can make an executive decision. Where the heck was the branch manager? The story is about him...not the officer!
Better safe than sorry at least you didn't go there and find out she didn't have any money there
Make a difference with all eyes on you
love things like this
Beautiful
Not to diminish this act of compassion, empathy, and kindness but the officer needs to be reprimanded. Did this take place in Mayberry? Unless it is, this is a clear neglect of his time and duty to serve the community he is employed in. What if a call came in that needed his attendance? What if the man tripped and hit his head along the way, causing a concussion? What if by being away from his normal rounds he could intercept a crime in progress? What if, etc...? All in all this was not a good or appropriate use of the officer's time. Either diffuse on the scene or perform the duty called for. FACTS: The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Montebello is 1 in 38. Based on FBI crime data, Montebello is not one of the safest communities in America. Relative to California, Montebello has a crime rate that is higher than 74% of the state's cities and towns of all sizes.
