Should I stay, or should I go? Can I make an impact within the system or do I have to work from the outside? These are some of the questions that Brendalyn King, M.Ed, PCC and I get into in this week’s episode. Brendalyn is part of Bhavana Learning Group. She was my coach and has been a big part of my process. The deeper we get into our careers the more we question why we do what we do, and are we truly in service of the people we serve. I often work with leaders on being able to let things “roll off their backs,” to not internalize every concern or complaint. To not take things too personally… Because leaders who get easily defensive struggle to build trust with their teams. Oftentimes folks just need to be heard - and it's not about you or something you did wrong, or even something that's in your control.
