IBIA enhances integrity monitoring platform!🚀 The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has announced the launch of an upgraded global integrity monitoring platform. The new platform aims to streamline the process of identifying and reporting suspicious betting, allowing for a faster and more efficient response to potential integrity breaches. The new platform also improves data analysis and allows the IBIA to share key insights with stakeholders, such as specific monitoring and alert data streams for regulatory bodies. “IBIA’s new integrity technology platform provides enhanced functionality and greatly improves our ability to analyse our members’ customer account level data, which covers over $300 billion in betting transactions annually, to identify and report suspicious betting activity,” said IBIA chief executive Khalid Ali. In Q1 2024 we reported a total of 56 alerts to the relevant authorities. Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, commenting on the recent figures, said: "The first quarter saw an increase in reported alerts highlighting the ongoing challenge our members, sports and regulatory authorities face from corrupt activity, with football and Asia dominating our Q1 report. IBIA’s alerts are supported by detailed global customer account data only available to IBIA and its membership, which continues to grow, widening our world leading market coverage. That account data provides evidentiary information that is vital for advancing investigations and imposing sanctions. IBIA is committed to continuing to work closely with stakeholders and to providing this important evidence base.” Through the IBIA global monitoring network it is possible to track transactional activities linked to individual customer accounts. IBIA members have over $300bn per annum in betting turnover (handle), accounting for approximately 50% of the global commercial regulated land-based and online sports betting sector, and in excess of 50% for online alone. IBIA alerts contributed to the investigations and subsequent successful sanctioning of 21 clubs, players and officials in 2023, an increase on the 15 sanctioned in 2022. This total represents a 3% decrease from the revised figure of 93 alerts in Q1 2024 and an 80% increase compared to the 50 alerts reported in Q2 2023. IBIA and its growing membership monitor over $300 billion in annual betting turnover across more than 125 sports betting brands globally, making it the largest betting integrity monitor of its kind in the world. 🇧🇷 IBIA Signs Cooperation Agreement with Brazilian Ministry of Finance We’re excited to announce a significant new partnership in our mission to protect sports and create a safe, reliable betting environment. Today, IBIA and the Brazilian Ministry of Finance signed a sports betting integrity cooperation agreement aimed at safeguarding the integrity of Brazil’s sports betting market. This agreement enables IBIA and the Ministry to share critical information on suspicious betting activity and collaborate closely on investigations. With the Brazilian sports betting market projected to reach $34bn in turnover by 2028, this collaboration is essential in addressing increased integrity risks and ensuring a fair experience for all. Regis Dudena, Secretary of Betting and Prizes, said: “Cooperation with IBIA will add to SPA's work in combating the manipulation of sporting events. And together we will mitigate this problem on a global scale.” Khalid Ali, IBIA CEO, said: “IBIA is delighted to have reached this agreement with the Brazilian Ministry of Finance and welcomes the government’s increased focus on creating a robust sports betting integrity ecosystem to tackle match-fixing. Collaboration and information sharing are key to the success of this ecosystem. Under this agreement IBIA will identify and report suspicious betting on Brazilian sporting events to the Ministry of Finance to support investigatory actions.
