Launch day! You can now create up to a million S3 buckets per AWS Account. https://lnkd.in/gbzyNwxG
Story time! In 2008 or 2009 I got paged bc the process that registered newly created S3 buckets with Amazon’s DNS had run out of /tmp space. Luckily it checksummed the input it generated for the DNS system and detected the truncated file. Yeah, the one file generated on one host with all the S3 buckets in the world in it. I can’t imagine how much more scalable and advanced that system has become to support 1M buckets per AWS account!
Huzzah! New DB unlocked.
Excellent. I definitely have a use case which requires 999,999 buckets so I'm good to go! 🙌🏾
Finally :)
I wonder what the use case that triggered this request was
Because everyone knows that one million bucket is just so practical inside one single account 🤣
The scale of s3 is something I will never be able to wrap my head around. Literally the most impressive piece of foundational technology I’ve ever worked with. Congrats to the team!
