Congratulations to Lightspeed backed Cartesia and Co-Founders Karan Goel, Albert Gu, Chris Ré, Arjun Desai, and Brandon Yang on their $27M seed round. Their state-space models (SSMs) are bringing more efficiency and affordability to the next wave of gen AI driving significantly lower latency than transformers so much so that very powerful SSMs can run on the edge. With this round of funding the team at Cartesia is building on the success of their Sonic model, a low-latency voice model, by developing multimodal AI models that are capable of processing different types of inputs like text, audio, video, images, and time-series data.
