Yesterday, RHNTC staff Lola Akintobi shared strategies for reimagining #YouthEngagement to include peer leaders and near-peer staff members during a workshop at #HealthyTeen24, with colleagues from Health Resources in Action (HRiA) and Healthy Futures of Texas. Near peers are close in age but slightly older than TPP project participants (e.g., college students), and are uniquely positioned to relate to participants and amplify their voices. However, hiring part-time youth staff represents unique organizational challenges for agencies that typically hire only full-time staff or adult staff. Staff working in TPP programs can use this tool to brush up on best practices for supervising youth staff: https://lnkd.in/gmwRUC5E

FP2030 aims to boost the Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (#CPR) to 52%, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (#SDG) related to family planning and reproductive health. However, service provider bias remains a hurdle, where providers' judgments and personal perceptions impact their counseling. This bias contributes to lower family planning uptake. To address this, RMNCH Sindh is partnering with Marie Stopes Society Pakistan to deliver a Training of Trainers (#ToT) program focused on Value Clarification and Attitude Transformation (#VCAT), #reproductivehealth, #familyplanning counseling skill. This training will build the capacity of District Master Trainers (DMTs) who will then train Lady Health Workers (#LHW) across Sindh. The training will empower DMTs and LHWs by: -> Enhancing their skills to provide client-centered care. -> Equipping them with comprehensive knowledge about all contraceptive methods, including their pros and cons. -> Enabling them to ensure informed consent for any family planning method, whether long-term, short-term, or permanent. DMTs from 30 districts of Sindh (2 from each district) will receive this training. These 60 DMTs will go on to train 22,000 LHWs, spreading the benefits of improved counseling and reduced biases. Marie Stopes Society has the expertise and capacity to deliver high-quality training that meets international standards. With a track record of impactful training programs and a commitment to excellence, Marie Stopes Society ensures that each participant gains valuable skills and knowledge. This initiative not only strengthens the capacity of health workers but also promotes a more informed and supportive community environment for family planning. #FamilyPlanning #ReproductiveHealth #VCAT #CapacityBuilding #ClientCenteredCare #MSS #SindhGovernment #RMNCH #FP2030 #SustainableDevelopment #HealthEquity #CommunityHealth

I’ve always believed that knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we can give young people, especially when it comes to understanding their bodies and making informed decisions about their health. Adolescence is a time of rapid changes, uncertainty, and curiosity. Yet, in many communities, essential topics like sexual and reproductive health (SRH) remain shrouded in silence, leaving adolescents vulnerable to misinformation and risky behavior. That’s why I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with USAID and its implementing partners, like the Society for Family Health (SFH), Adolescent Reproductive &Family Heath (ARFH), Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research (CCCRN), and ProHealth respectively through their Integrated Child Health and Social Services Award (ICHSSA lots) project. Thanks to their commitment to improving adolescent health, my books, Teens Blueprint: Understanding Your Body and My Period, are now being made accessible to the very adolescents who need them the most. These books were never just about providing information—they were designed as relatable, illustrative tools that use storytelling to break down complex topics into something engaging and easy to understand. They allow young people to learn about puberty, reproductive health, menstruation, and much more, in a way that is not intimidating but empowering. And the best part? They can explore these topics independently, without needing a formal trainer or a structured classroom environment. #AdolescentHealth #SRHEducation #EmpoweringYouth #TeensBlueprint #MyPeriod #HealthForAll #USAIDSupport #YouthEmpowerment #CSEforTeens #ICHSSAProject #MenstrualHealth #FutureLeaders #KnowledgeIsPower #HealthyAdolescents Mandela Washington Fellowship Chevening Awards

From 2008 to 2024, EngenderHealth has supported India’s Ministry of Family Health and Welfare to improve adolescent health services and outcomes. Using a GYSI lens and participatory approaches to meaningfully engage adolescents and youth, whose unique needs are often ignored, we implemented an innovative partnership model with local nongovernmental organizations to improve access to and quality of adolescent health services. For instance, we helped establish and strengthen adolescent-friendly health clinics at facilities and enhanced community outreach to adolescents by identifying and training peer educators and by organizing special adolescent health days. This project helped improve community- and facility-level services and improved coordination between health and education initiatives, fostering an enabling environment for adolescent health that supports more gender- and youth-transformative programming. The field of Reproductive Medicine is one I have always been interested and in the beginning I struggled with finding persons to look up to. Mentorship is an important concept in every profession. In the dynamic realm of reproductive health, mentorship emerges as a crucial force, shaping the industry's trajectory. Beyond technical skills, mentorship provides emotional support, aiding in the nuanced navigation of sensitive issues within the field. Mentorship fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting a holistic approach to reproductive health challenges. It plays a role in promoting diversity and inclusion, ensuring a variety of perspectives contribute to decision-making processes. Embracing mentorship is not only about guidance but also sponsorship, actively advocating for mentees' professional growth and visibility. As professionals, actively engaging in mentorship cultivates a culture that propels the reproductive health sector forward. By fostering mentorship relationships, we contribute to a collective effort aimed at addressing challenges and seizing opportunities. In this collaborative spirit, the industry can continue advancing, ultimately improving reproductive health outcomes and promoting the well-being of individuals and communities globally. #ReproductiveHealth #MentorshipMatters

In this paper, we examine the bodily practices of women in selected Slavic and East African communities, highlighting the importance of women's circles, health, and overall community welfare. We consider whether these culturally specific practices, performed by novice women during initiation, can inform contemporary approaches to reproductive health.https://https://lnkd.in/dcaV8hew
