🔍 A new Greenpeace European Unit analysis reveals that the current food and farming system forces farmers to industrialise and ramp up production to stay in business, squeezing many small-scale farmers out of business. 👤 Right-wing politicians blame nature protection instead of addressing the root causes of farmers’ suffering 💵 The next Common Agricultural Policy reform must stop public money from going to mega-farms, and start supporting farmers in need and those that restore nature and transition to ecological farming practices. In the EU, the majority of crop land and grain are used to feed animals mostly reared in factory farms. This is such a waste of resources, and bad news for animals confined in unsustainable, intensive systems. The EU can reduce food loss and feed more people simply by ending its use of grain to feed factory farmed animals. Call on EU leaders for a fair food & farming transition. Agriculture's definition has remained largely the same since Biblical times—farmers clear land, plant seeds, and harvest crops. But now, there's a growing push to include saltwater farming, especially in vulnerable coastal areas. This shift could restore wetlands, boost climate resilience, and empower coastal communities, all while enhancing agricultural production. A win for people and the planet! 🌱🌊 #SaltwaterFarming #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateResilience #CoastalRestoration https://hubs.li/Q02ZX8wz0
