It was great to initiate the "Loomery Lab" a home for all our experiments and prototypes using emerging tech like GenAI and Spatial computing and to finally push it live! 🤓🤖 My vision for the Lab is (pun not intended!): * Emphasis on _show_ rather than tell, as opposed to a more regular text-heavy blog * One stop shop to see all our prototypes and learn about our approach to building proof of concepts * Leaves a deep impression on the reader right when they land, with heavy use of images * Longer shelf life than a social media post, so nothings lost to time * A platform for engineering discovery, for external engineers and potential new clients * Easier to sell technical ideas to potential clients - educating clients on what is possible with third era tech, and a display of how serious we are about rapid experimentation * Next best thing after an in-person demo day, gives the reader a strong idea of what the tech is and its use case in as little time as possible * Highly sharable content * Aid with engineering hires, display of our engineering "culture" * Embeds us deeper within the engineering community - we can also push open source software * A demo of our in-house talent for prospective clients * A showcase for great design and engineering in and of itself Big thanks to Katy O'Kelly and Harry Brailey who helped design it 🎨 and to Charlotte Mill-Tucker for helping vet the content 🫡 Go and check it out, and watch this space as there is more to come! https://lab.loomery.com/ #visionOS #swiftlang #iosdev #genai #ai
5,4,3,2,1... Lift off 🚀 Today we’re opening up the doors to our Lab, the home of all of our latest experiments with Gen AI and Spatial Computing. The Loomery team works at the frontier of the third era of personal computing. Throughout the past year, they have been building and learning, you can see a sneak peek of some of their experiments here >> https://lnkd.in/dBH2isyD Over the next few months, we’ll be updating the Lab with all our latest experiments. So jump in, have a look around, and get inspired about how these could apply to your organisation ✨ #EngineeringCapability #TechnicalInsights #VisionPro #RapidPrototyping #GenerativeAI

We are showcasing a number of use cases with an LLM next week in London, which can be easily integrated into existing workflows. Think text extraction, classification tasks. Now for a preview of one such use case of an LLM that shows how you can easily have keywords and a summary generated. This is a preview in the AWS Bedrock playground Partyrock: https://lnkd.in/eFk6ueB8 Meet me and Yuri Vorontsov in London at the STM Innovation Fair next week to learn more!
Large Language Models (LLMs) excel in tasks such as text extraction and classification. For example, they can effectively identify institutions or funders from an article’s acknowledgment section, or extract references. LLMs can also automatically generate keywords, summaries, and more. Appetence is one of the innovators at the STM Innovation Fair 2024. We will showcase several use cases for an LLM. Meet us there!

The Cognitive Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) research group is a newly formed group (as of January 2024), and the result of merging the Socially-Competent Robotic and Agent Technologies (SCRAT) and the Learning Agents and Robots (LEAR) research groups. CAIR conducts basic and applied research on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics with a focus on developing software agents and robots that populate (along with other agents, robots, or humans) open-ended, dynamic, and uncertain environments, perceive the world through multiple modalities, autonomously or interactively learn predictive models, accumulate skills over their lifetime, reason and plan in an adaptive fashion that is explainable and aligned with human cognitive abilities. Key areas include: -machine learning (brain-inspired, reinforcement, deep, continual, evolutionary), -generative AI (language models, text-to-image models, vision-language-action models), -cognitive assistants (neural-symbolic integration, knowledge representation, reasoning), -robotics (perception, learning, navigation, locomotion, planning, manipulation). CAIR team leaders, Prof. Loizos Michael, and Dr. Vassilis Vassiliades. https://lnkd.in/dbS_MWNg

Our Neuroinformatics Unit (NIU) operates on a shared belief that helping science inch toward a better experience for all is a worthy mission. "There is no reason why the tools we build should stay private within the institute, particularly because everything we do leverages a rich ecosystem of other open source software," shares Head of the NIU Adam Tyson. Read the full story of how the team of research software engineers build tools that improve data organisation, refine analysis pipelines, and more: https://lnkd.in/erZSAEUr #OpenScience

Thank you to the Falling Walls Foundation for the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Falling Walls Science Summit and discuss HPC and AI Solutions: A Collective International Effort with esteemed colleagues. As I shared during the panel, Argonne joins other organizations in working towards harnessing the transformative power of supercomputing and artificial intelligence across four key areas: data curation, hardware, large language models, and developing applications at scale. This is an exciting time for government, academia, and industry to collaborate and make meaningful progress in applying these innovations. The potential impact is immense, and I’m proud of the role Argonne plays in advancing this critical work. To see the full panel discussion, click here: https://lnkd.in/gPbH9s3N
