🌟 “Dreams always start locally” Emilia Saiz, Secretary-General of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), explains what localization is. This aligns with the World Urban Forum theme this year: #ItAllStartsAtHome – Local actions for sustainable cities and communities. Any vision for an optimistic future must include communities, cities and local action to implement the New Urban Agenda and achieve the SDGs, including Goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities. #ItAllStartsLocally Read more about the theme here: https://t.ly/eo-PY

On October 22nd and 23rd, I had the opportunity to attend the Forward Summit West. This event was a valuable experience, challenging my understanding of allyship and providing insight into what it truly means to stand alongside Indigenous communities—not just as a distant supporter, but as a genuine partner through every challenge and achievement. A few takeaways from the summit that resonated deeply: Allyship is about action: Being an ally isn’t about simply offering encouragement from the sidelines; it’s a call to engage meaningfully and take tangible steps that demonstrate commitment. Engagement at the grassroots level: Corporate partnerships with Indigenous communities shouldn’t only take place at the executive level. These connections are most impactful when built across every level within both the organization and the community. Unlearning to relearn: There’s a need to unlearn conventional approaches to negotiation and embrace reciprocity, where alignment of mutual interests serves as the foundation of trust. It also involves taking the time to look in the mirror and recognize our own unconscious biases, which is essential to fostering positive corporate-Indigenous relations. I walked away with a clearer understanding of the path forward—one that’s about listening, learning, and striving to create lasting change. Looking forward to learning even more in the years to come. #ForwardSummitVancouver #DGIA

🔥Special message to my fellow Africans (third series)🔥 🌍🤝 Embracing Coexistence: The Power of Value Focus and Extraction 🤝🌍 ✍️In today's rapidly evolving world, the importance of humans coexisting harmoniously cannot be overstated. As we navigate the complexities of our global society, it's essential that we prioritize value focus and extraction in our interactions and collaborations. 🔑 Value Focus: This is about identifying and amplifying the unique strengths, perspectives, and contributions each individual brings to the table. When we focus on values—whether they be innovation, sustainability, or empathy—we foster an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. This not only enhances individual satisfaction but also drives collective success. 💡 Value Extraction: It’s essential to recognize that every interaction has the potential to generate value. By adopting a mindset of value extraction, we can uncover insights, foster creativity, and develop solutions that benefit not just individuals, but communities and organizations as a whole. This process encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing, ultimately leading to greater innovation and resilience. 🤔 Why It Matters: In a world that often feels divided, prioritizing coexistence through value focus and extraction can bridge gaps and create a culture of mutual respect and understanding. Together, we can build networks that thrive on collaboration, innovation, and shared success Let’s champion a future where we lift each other up, recognizing that our greatest strength lies in our diversity and our ability to work together towards common goals. 🌟 ♻️Repost and share to help someone out there✅ #Coexistence #ValueFocus #Collaboration #Globalization #HelpingOthersSucceed.
