🕊️ World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence 🕊️ Today, we observe a day dedicated to confronting one of the most distressing issues in our society: child exploitation, abuse, and violence. This global day urges us to break the silence and commit to creating safer spaces for every child to grow, thrive, and heal. Why does this day matter? 🔸 This observance aims to raise awareness of the devastating impacts of child sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence, focusing on both prevention and healing. 🔸 It highlights the urgent need for global action to protect children and to support those affected by these harmful experiences. What can we do to make a difference? 🔹 Educate and raise awareness: Knowing the signs of abuse and how to support children is crucial to prevention. 🔹 Advocate for strong child protection laws and policies: Support initiatives that enhance protections and resources for children and families. 🔹 Support child-focused organizations: Get involved with or donate to organizations dedicated to preventing child abuse and providing resources for survivors. Trafficking happens at all ages. The United Nations noted that children make up 20% of trafficking victims worldwide, and the International Organization for Migration said that 12.6% of child trafficking victims are between 0 and 2 years old, likely born in slavery. In a world that gets increasingly less safe with AI-generated child sexual abuse material (which the Department of Homeland Security notes perpetuates harm that is hard to stop), what can we do? National Child Abuse Prevention Month just ended, but you can still join us in taking a stand against human trafficking! Reset180 is a nonprofit that seeks to prevent trafficking, disrupt the related networks, and restore the lives of survivors in Northern Virginia. Learn more at reset180.com. Suspect trafficking? Don’t be afraid to call the National Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888.

During October’s Employee Giving Campaign at Microsoft, we come together to support the causes that matter most to us. It’s one of my favorite times of the year because I get to see the incredible generosity of my colleagues and the amazing organization we support. In honor of Microsoft Giving Month, I am proud to support organizations dedicated to preventing child abuse and domestic violence. Every day, countless children and adults endure the horrors of abuse. Tragically, when victims find the courage to speak out, they often face victim-blaming, skepticism, and a legal system that can allow abusers to continue their harmful behavior. Did you know that less than 2% of reported child sexual assaults are found to be false? A small percentage of reported cases result in charges and even fewer lead to convictions. This stark reality highlights the urgent need for cultural and systemic change. I encourage everyone to educate themselves about the challenges victims face. If you feel compelled, please consider donating to organizations that support these brave individuals. Some of my favorites include: Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) - State and local chapters across the US Children’s Justice Center of King County - cjckc.org King County Sexual Assault Resource Center Childhelp Children's Center of Arizona - Childhelp To those experiencing abuse, please get the support you need. There is a fantastic new app called Aimeesays that leverages AI to provide support to victims. Together, we can make a difference.

Today, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we come together as a global community to take action and ensure no child is left behind in the fight against human trafficking. In 2022, there were 765 human trafficking victims assisted nationwide, reflecting the broader impact that includes states like Indiana. Children, especially girls, represent a staggering proportion of trafficking victims globally. By raising awareness and accelerating our efforts, we can protect the most vulnerable and give every child the chance to thrive. We want to raise awareness, strengthen laws, improve victim support and identify gaps in community-based services. Let’s safeguard our children's futures and build a world where no young life is stolen. United, we can and will protect and support our children! 💗 #LeaveNoChildBehind #endchildtrafficking #stophumantrafficking #worlddayagainsttrafficking #cfsoc #supportandresources #raiseawareness #community #communitypartners #childrenswelfare #protectchildren #youthandfamilies #victimsupport #southernindiana #takeaction

🎙️ A Critical Truth About Human Trafficking That Might Shock You This week on "When I Was Homeless..." our guest Crystal shared a devastating reality that challenges common misconceptions about human trafficking: "97% of trafficking victims know their trafficker. It's someone they trust - a family member, a boyfriend, a husband. There's this intimate piece that people don't understand... It's manipulation. It's mind games, it's mind control." 🔊 Listen to this powerful 24-second clip This isn't just a statistic - it's a wake-up call. As community leaders and professionals in Miami-Dade, we must understand that trafficking doesn't always look like the scenarios we see in movies. It's happening in our neighborhoods, often hidden behind familiar faces and trusted relationships. Join me in raising awareness and supporting organizations fighting this battle in our communities. Every share of this message could help someone recognize the signs and potentially save a life. 🎯 Listen to Crystal's full story: https://lnkd.in/eEGXrVQj 📱 Follow our work: https://lnkd.in/evgWiyNM 💡 Learn more about trafficking prevention: https://lnkd.in/evBxMghV #StopHumanTrafficking #CommunityAwareness #SocialImpact #MiamiDade

Every 68 seconds an American is sexually assaulted. And every 9 minutes, that victim is a child. Meanwhile, only 25 out of every 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison. Most folks know that April is Child Abuse Prevention month. Many will participate in training through work or attend a fundraising or awareness event. This increases individual awareness and is a good thing. This participation is expected and is easy I ask that you think introspectively and ask yourself if you have internalized awareness. Would you recognize indicators that a child is a victim of abuse? if not, what is keeping you from investing an hour or so to learn to recognize these indicators? I don't expect actual responses, I just hope the post causes folks to think ... and hopefully take action. https://lnkd.in/dbcSd2ri
