Today, we welcome new Georgian Grizzlies across our seven campuses. I want to extend my gratitude to our partners, donors and other friends of the college who support our students in countless ways – from investing in their learning experience, to providing work-integrated, hands-on opportunities. Thank you for your continued support as, together, we prepare these students to become the innovative and compassionate future leaders our workplaces and world need. Looking forward to a great year ahead!

Neither the fanatics nor the faint-hearted are needed. And our duty as a Party is not to our Party alone, but to the nation, and, indeed, to all mankind. Our duty is not merely the preservation of political power but the preservation of peace and freedom. So let us not be petty when our cause is so great. Let us not quarrel amongst ourselves when our Nation's future is at stake. Let us stand together with renewed confidence in our cause -- united in our heritage of the past and our hopes for the future -- and determined that this land we love shall lead all mankind into new frontiers of peace and abundance. -- President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (May 29, 1917 - November 22, 1963)

When training new hires in records management, I always emphasize how subtlety important accurate preservation of history is. In this example, if we didn't have on record how diverse the 19th-century West was we'd only have Hollywood depictions to rely on. An unreliable narrator at best!
From Made by History: Black cowboys made up as much as a quarter of working ranch hands during late 19th century. That legacy has been obscured.

Allyson, this quote from President Jimmy Carter encapsulates the essence of leadership in its purest form—service. His legacy serves as a profound reminder that true greatness is not born from self-interest but from a commitment to the well-being of others. In a world often focused on individual achievement, it is refreshing to remember that the most enduring success comes not from personal accolades, but from lifting others up and making a tangible difference in their lives. Carter’s commitment to humanitarian work, especially through the Carter Center, exemplifies the powerful intersection between leadership and service. This quote can serve as a guiding principle for those of us striving to lead with purpose—be it in business, community, or broader societal contexts. It challenges us to redefine what greatness truly means and inspires us to act in ways that have lasting, meaningful impacts. As we reflect on his words, may we continue to shape our own legacies, grounded in the idea that greatness is found not in what we achieve for ourselves, but in what we contribute to the collective good. #LeadershipThroughService #PurposeDrivenLeadership #ServiceToOthers #LegacyOfGreatness

Be brave enough to teach the history they are trying to erase!: On June 22, 1944, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act (USA), known as the GI Bill, to provide financial aid to veterans returning from World War II. The benefits included access to housing, small business loans, employment, and education. While the GI Bill was federal legislation, it was administered by the states, where Jim Crow laws and practices severely limited equal access to the benefits. Here are some questions to consider regarding the GI Bill: Were the benefits for everyone? How many elected officials, opposed to government programs today, benefit from their family having been on the GI Bill? What is the impact of the GI Bill on racial disparities in the United States today?
Happy 80th Birthday, GIBill! On June 22, 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944, otherwise known as the GI Bill of Rights. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e9qYqNsJ
