“It’s a shame that we spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year extracting things like petroleum to make plastics, and we just throw that away and have to re-extract all over again.” X’s moonshot for the circular economy was featured in a recent episode of “Where the Internet Lives,” which chronicled the team’s efforts to transform waste management. The team is building tools that use data and AI to identify plastic waste at the molecular level to find new ways to reuse and recycle the world’s waste. Watch the episode, which features X’s Rey Banatao, Recology’s Julia Mangin, Google’s Kate Brandt, and more: https://lnkd.in/d5ED_zSd

😵 Last year I monitored my carbon emissions. This year it's my personal resource consumption. But that's f***ing hard!!! ⛏ In the circularity community, we talk a lot about materials. And, sure, we have to use them much more wisely. 🤔 The tricky thing is: We barely have a clue what's going on material-wise. Companies start to track it better. Countries come up with national strategies. But what does that mean on a per capita level? In my April issue of the #bGreenLeaders article by CIRCULAZE by CURAZE & Messe Muenchen I reflect on that difficulty. The Munich Circular Gap Report by Circle Economy was a helpful basis. Spoiler: We consume too much. But there are solutions. And I'll give some examples. Enjoy reading! --- 🔔 Follow me for inspiration about sustainable products & business models ✉ Contact me if you need tailored support #circulareconomy #earthovershootday #bGreenLeaders

Let's talk about the power of a circular economy. In episode 21, "Circularity 101", we discuss the basics of the circular economy, whether or not it is actually achievable, if it is possible for a product to be 100% closed loop, and what changes need to be made in order to achieve the circular economy on a large scale. 🌍✨ At Data Company One, we're passionate about driving positive change in aluminum can recycling. Did you know that if we increase the recycling rate from 50% to 70%, we could reduce CO2 emissions by a staggering 6 million tons annually? Aluminum cans are incredibly valuable resources; recycling them consumes only 5% of the energy required to produce new cans from bauxite ore. This presents a significant opportunity not only for environmental impact but also for sustainable business practices. We're on a mission to make recycling engaging and data-driven. Our innovative solutions empower communities to participate in recycling efforts and track their contributions through gamification and advanced analytics. Together, we can create a circular economy that benefits our planet and future generations. Join us in this crucial journey towards sustainability and let’s make recycling a game changer! ♻️💪 #Sustainability #Recycling #CircularEconomy #DataDriven #ClimateAction #DataCompanyOne

We need innovative solutions to protect our planet while remaining economically viable. This is where the concept of the #CircularEconomy comes into play. ♻️ For us, a circular process runs from the design phase via the use phase to the recycling of a tire – and then back to start. By 2050 at the latest we want to close our product and resources cycles completely. But how do we want to get there? We talked to Martina Steppat, Program Manager Circular Economy at Continental’s Group Sector Tires, about our journey. About circular economy and the importance of considering circularity already in the design phase of a tire. 📢 Curious? Read the full interview here: https://ow.ly/yFyA50SjKwf Together, we can make the world more #sustainable and equitable future. 🌱🌐 #Continental #SustainableFuture #ResourceCycles #SustainabilityMatters #EnvironmentalProtection

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve earned the Circular Economy Specialist (High-Mastery) certification from the Circular Economy Alliance! In today’s world, moving beyond the outdated linear model of “produce, use, discard” is essential. Traditional recycling methods only address part of the challenge, but the circular model truly transforms our approach. I’m excited to apply this knowledge to shift towards sustainable, regenerative practices. #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #ProfessionalGrowth

🌿🔬 Sustainability Meets Science 🔬🌿 In the scientific world, progress and discovery often come hand-in-hand with resource consumption. But what if we could shift the balance—minimizing our environmental footprint without compromising innovation? 🌍 At GreenLabs Recycling, we're on a mission to make sustainability a standard practice in labs everywhere. By properly recycling lab plastics and reducing waste, we're helping the scientific community turn its focus toward a cleaner, greener future. Imagine the impact: 🌱 Diverting tons of plastic waste from landfills. Reusing materials to reduce costs and conserve resources. Cultivating a culture of environmental responsibility in labs. When scientists prioritize sustainable practices, the benefits ripple outwards—to the planet, to future generations, and to the research itself. Together, we can continue advancing knowledge while protecting the world we share. 🌎✨ Let’s make the change—one lab at a time. ♻️💡 #GreenLabs #SustainabilityInScience #LabRecycling #EcoFriendlyLabs #ResearchResponsibly
