Monday Blues? Have you noticed how many Monday LinkedIn posts are about encouragement and reassurance? "Happy Monday!" "Hope you have a great week ahead!" It’s like everyone is trying to cheer you up for existing on another Monday. It kind of reminds me of dropping a kid off for their first day of kindergarten. The mom is sad, the child is sad, the teacher is sad, everyone’s sad. Same with Mondays—the "Happy Monday" wisher thinks you’re dejected, and, you are. And the wisher is also dejected. Except in this case it is not for one day but for many many many Mondays. Now, let me tell you—when I was a medical intern, the Monday blues didn’t just hit me; they physically manifested. My body gave me an unfriendly reminder every time Monday rolled around. But it wasn’t just Mondays. Oh no. It was Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and even some imaginary days existing only in my head. All day, every day. (🎤). Here’s my point: I wasn’t just a Monday hater—I was an equalist. I hated every single day equally. No stigma. So if you’re only feeling this way about Mondays, it means one of two things: Either you’re not in as bad a situation as you think (congratulations!), or you’re showing some... discriminatory tendencies. Minor racism, maybe? Why single out poor Monday when the rest of the week can be just as bad—or just as good? 🤔 Honestly, it’s not Monday’s fault. It didn’t ask to be the bearer of your back-to-work blues. And yet, here we are, collectively sighing our way into Monday like it’s some kind of cosmic punishment. So, let’s be fair: Show Monday some love! Or, if you must, share the hate across the board—equally. After all, Saturday has its issues too (Laundry day, Forced socializing day?). P.S. Are you unfairly picking on Monday?

Goooood Mooor-ning Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. 😊 If you did, I hope you are raring to go today and you have a fabulous week! If your weekend was not so good or you are just not sure how you can get through the week ahead, take it easy on yourself. Maybe make sure you have something planned each day to look forward to. It doesn't have to be anything big. Maybe just a cup of your favourite hot drink in your favorite mug with a biscuit, where you stop and do nothing else. Or maybe take yourself out to lunch. A picnic is fine if money is tight, or a cafe or coffee shop. Just somewhere different so you feel you are giving yourself space and time and something nice. Or treat yourself to a favorite film. Make some popcorn and a big drink, dim the lights, switch off your phone and enjoy. Or plan some time to read/listen to a new book. Tell everyone you are busy and don't want to be disturbed. The most important thing about each of these is that they are things just for you. Time where you are telling yourself that you matter and treating yourself as if you do. Go on - you deserve it! Happy Monday friends. How are you? Like how are you really doing? If you are like the majority of us, you are most likely struggling just a bit (or alot) right now. In fact, a recent American Psychological Association (APA) survey, 77% of US adults reported that the future of the country is a significant source of stress in their lives. So it is not breaking news to report that the vast majority of us are feeling overwhelmed, anxious and worried at this moment in time in our country. And often these anxious feelings are compounded when we feel powerless in the face of external circumstances. However, there are things you can do. Right now- in this moment. You can lean into your humanity. You can let the little things go. You can care for eachother. You can really listen to someone. You can practice kindness and compassion for others. You can practice kindness and compassion for yourself. And remember, we all bring our full selves to work- these anxious feelings don't turn off during work hours. So just take a moment to recognize that we are all in this together- Your coworkers. Your team members. Your customers. Your managers. Your employees. Whatever happens this week, remember- we all just want to feel like we matter and are a part of something that matters. What will you do to brighten someones day today? Oh yes. And there is one more thing you can do. You can VOTE. Because you do matter, your vote matters and you are a part of something that matters. Sending you all peace today.
