I have recently worked with our new real time monitoring package and it really does change how the environment can be monitored.
At the moment the Environment Agency needs to monitor a site by mean of inspection and sampling which is not an easy task. The new low power radio monitor can be installed anywhere to collect or transmit data live to a website.
Any business looking to set permits could use this to monitor discharges without the use of slow sampling equipment. The log is then available 24/7. The environment Agency could use this system to satisfy consent issue's by remote monitoring of any outfall.
We recently discovered a discharge issue for a client which occurred at a specific time everyday. Without this equipment the misconnection had gone unnoticed.
Our range allows automation of any 4-20mA sensor so oil separator to flood alarms can be added without buying new!
