👏 Ugur Mertyurek and team have secured $2.2M from DOE’s Data Science Program to commercialize their mutual information analytics (MIA) technology program. The MIA technology filters irrelevant data, enabling AI to focus on critical data and make better, bias-free decisions to enhance the reliability of AI applications across fields even beyond nuclear. 🤖 ⚛️ ➡️ Ugur received the initial support for this project from ORNL’s Walid A. Metwally Metwally, as well as Atul Karve and Hany Abdel-Khalik through the Office of Nuclear Energy | U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy I-Corps program. 🔗 Read more here: https://bit.ly/3OX2Lkq

Meet FREDA – the Fusion REactor Design and Assessment project! FREDA is a cross-cutting, multi-institution effort led by ORNL to build a unified modeling tool capable of simulating an entire fusion reactor. This virtual doppelganger will enable fusion scientists and engineers to design, test and iterate on every aspect of a fusion power plant, from plasma physics to engineering components, leading to faster, more informed design and operation. Building on decades of experience in nuclear modeling, FREDA leverages ORNL's strengths in artificial intelligence, machine learning and high performance computing to combine physics and engineering models and optimize reactor design points for performance and safety. #fusion #fusionenergy Read more about FREDA at the link below 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eDfkrviy
