Chinoiserie Wall Panels
I have a vintage wallpaper with scrolling vines, florals and gold highlights. I want to incorporate it into the room without gluing it to the walls. So I decided on wall panels - framing the paper. But also, the look I'm aiming for, for the guest bedroom, is regency. Luxurious textures and metals. Not necessarily 'chinoiserie.' In fact, I don't really want any Asian design elements/motifs in the room at all. These panels will only be a nod to it.

Taped the wallpaper right-side down and gave a spritz of warm water (fine spray) to reactivate the glues and soften the bone-dry paper. Wish I had taken more pictures throughout the process. The next step, while the glues were waking up, I spread the wallpaper paste (aka seam repair, because I knew I only needed a small amount, not a large bucket) onto a panel. A thin layer spread all over and especially the edges. Then I flipped the glued board over and rested on the paper. I just eye-balled my placement which was about 1" from the bottom and sides. After a few pressings down, the paper was sticking! I flipped the board over. Then used a moistened sponge to smooth out the bubbles. Set to dry. Then trimmed the edges with an Exacto knife.
