This necklace holds a beautiful piece of Leland Blue, found on the shores of Lake Michigan. Leland Blue is actually not a stone, but rather a byproduct of the smelting process of the 1800s in Michigan. When the smelting industry went bust, they dumped heaps of slag into Lake Michigan. Over years it has tumbled into beautiful blue beach-stone-looking pieces. I love that something ugly has turned into something beautiful. People now comb the beaches hunting for this coveted Leland Blue. This necklace represents how we can turn lemons into lemonade. The necklace is sterling silver and measures approximately 1.5" long and .6" wide. It hangs on an 18" sterling silver chain. If you would like a longer or shorter chain, please write a note at checkout. The necklace is handcrafted in my jewelry studio in Brattleboro, Vermont. I do my best to depict accurate color of the stone, but it may be slightly different than what your computer screen shows. This piece is one-of-a-kind. Free shipping in the US. International shipping is $10.
