This one of a kind minimalist pendant necklace features a unique ancient Roman glass square shaped bead in a vibrant deep green with hints of blue. The surface of the bead is wonderfully both smooth and rough, so satisfyingly "crunchy" and imperfect. I've paired the ancient glass bead with a tiny faceted Peruvian opal and small granulated sterling silver beads, all carefully wrapped with sterling silver wire. It comes on a chain of your choice in either 16" or 18" lengths, make your selection from the drop down menu. Roman glass was the first mass produced glass, circa the first century AD they developed a technique that made production easier and faster than ever known before. This resulted in the massive growth of the Roman influence at the end of this period and Roman glass found it's way to Afghanistan and India and as far east as China. My Roman glass jewelry is made from beads hand picked at area bead shows and are roughly 2000 years old. They are salvaged in areas along the Silk Road trade route from fragments of items like jars, goblets, windows, bowls, and vases. Every time I look at one of my lovely beads I am fascinated by the history I hold in my hand! to go back to my shop home please click here: https://amyabramsdesigns.etsy.com
