Cameo brooch pin is a vintage antique Italian signed genuine carved shell cameo pin or pendant, set in a solid sterling silver frame with genuine sparkly marcasites. Genuine carved shell cameo in solid sterling silver frame mounting with marcasites embellishing the ornate cameo frame. This lovely vintage cameo treasure, is a a genuine hand carved Italian shell cameo. It can be worn as a brooch or as a pendant, and is a perfect gift for a cameo lover or a collector of fine vintage antique cameos. The cameo is signed by the artist on the back, and there is a loop for a chain or ribbon on the back to wear it as a pendant. The back frame is clearly stamped "ITALY" and "925" for sterling. This very fine quality cameo portrait of a lady, with beautifully carved lovely curls and tendrils, with a flower in her hair. The portrait is carved into a translucent genuine carnelian orange shell showing off her sweet facial features. The cameo is in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing, and has a fully operational safety clasp and pin as well as the lift up chain loop The cameo measures about 1 1/4" from top to bottom, and it is about 1" wide and set in solid sterling silver mounting with sparkling faceted marcasites. This cameo was in my late Mother's estate jewelry collection. It is possibly much older than the 1930s. She purchased it in the 1950s as an antique vintage piece at that time. It is in perfect vintage condition. The cameo is reminiscent of the days when proper Victorian ladies wore cameos on their lacy high neck collars, or suspended them from a long chain. This piece can be worn as a brooch on a high collar or on a jacket or dress, or an evening bag, or a lapel. It has a wonderful safety catch pin clasp to keep it safely attached. Or you can pin it to a black velvet ribbon for an awsome antique choker. The loop on the back allows you to add a jump ring and put it on a long chain or cord, so it is very versatile!
