Gold-filled is actual 14k gold heat-bonded with an inner core of brass as opposed to gold plated which is a thin layer of gold liquid solution electroplated over a base metal. Brass is used because it is hypoallergenic. All our clasps and ear wires will be marked 14/20 GF. Gold-filled is different and a higher quality alternative to gold plating.
