Usually, the minimum "extra" length, to be able to clasp it comfortably, is an additional 1/2 inch. If you want your bracelet to fit snugly, meaning once you get it clasped it will stay close to your wrist, then go to the nearest quarter inch. Please keep in mind that you may need a helper to clasp a snug fitting bracelet. But, if you like a lot of "drape," then you would choose it even longer. Ideally, measure a bracelet that you have, that you think fits well, and order that size.
