The Etruscan revival period of the late 1800s was inspired by the findings of archaeological digs in and around Rome. The Etruscans inhabited the area before the Romans did! The ancient jewelry being found was marked by gold granulation, filigree, and classical cultural themes. These Etruscan revival earrings were likely made at the tail of the 19th century and are in the image of ancient amphorae, which were vases used to store and ship goods. The faces of the amphorae are embellished with hand applied gold granulation and the handles are an elegant filigree style. They're elongated in shape and have a spiked bottom, which is a markedly Victorian interpretation of a classical piece of day-to-day minutiae. They're in excellent condition and are a stunning bright yellow. DETAILS METAL: 18K Yellow Gold (acid tested) MEASUREMENTS: 2.25"L x 0.75"W WEIGHT: 6.7g
