Global Threat Assessment 2023 released 

WeProtect Global Alliance published the Global Threat Assessment 2023, outlining the scope of online child sexual exploitation to inspire evidence-based action and reduce risks to children.

Global Summit and key announcements 

In partnership with the European Commission, WeProtect hosted the Turning the Tide on Child Sexual Abuse Online summit, gathering over 900 attendees. Key launches included the Framing the Future report with UNICEF and the Global Taskforce on Child Sexual Abuse Online.

Independent relaunch 

Relaunched as an independent organization, WeProtect sharpened its focus on empowering leaders, expanding knowledge, and building collaborative networks to combat online child exploitation. 

Dec 2019

African Union Summit 

At our Global Summit in Addis Ababa with the African Union and the UK Government, WeProtect introduced the 2019 Global Threat Assessment and the Global Strategic Response framework. 

Feb 2018

End Violence Solutions Summit 

Over 400 delegates from 60+ countries met in Stockholm to share solutions for child protection. WeProtect launched the first Global Threat Assessment to establish a baseline on global child exploitation. 

May 2016

Alliance formation

WePROTECT merged with the Global Alliance Against Child Sexual Abuse Online, unifying resources and expertise for a global response to online child sexual abuse. 

2015

Global Summit on Child Protection 

A summit gathered representatives from 50+ countries to unify global efforts in child protection, resulting in Statements of Action to tackle online exploitation. 

2014

Foundation of WePROTECT 

Established by the UK Government, WePROTECT hosted a global summit, introducing initiatives with UNICEF, including a £50 million Child Protection Fund. 

2013

US hosts Ministerial conference 

Hosted by the US and EU, decision-makers addressed global obstacles to child protection and endorsed a declaration to intensify cross-border collaboration. 

Dec 2012

Launch of the Global Alliance 

The European Commission and US Department of Justice established the Global Alliance Against Child Sexual Abuse Online, committing 54 countries to combat child exploitation through coordinated action.
