Handmade Ceramics by Mel Eliades 🌸 on Instagram: "Here’s a little sneaky peak in how I create my Large pinch bowls, the one pictured here is with a #keaneswhiteraku clay and a more organic shaped rim. In the video I’m using #feeneysbrt my speckled clay body. As you can see I start with a large slab of clay around 1cm thick to allow for the pinching of the clay. I then drape it onto the bisque mould I made myself (I love these over plaster as they aren’t heavy and can be washed in the sink to switch between light and dark clays). I didn’t show it in the video but I like to sprinkle on cornflour so it prevents any sticking to the mould. I then keep patting the clay down slowly so I don’t create creases and uneven thickness of the slab. Pinched Pottery on Instagram: "4oz pinched cups in espresso. I named this clay “espresso”, it’s actually a mix of 3 different brown clays that I loved but unfortunately discontinued. I also added in coarse grog as well. Started with a ball of clay about 220-230g and as always, rough shaped them first then let them dry until they are firm enough to be handled without losing their shape to do the final shaping/pinching. I didn’t need any tools for these. Raw inside and out - fired twice, bisque fired at cone 04 then glazed fired at cone 6 without any glazes on. Sealed with @liquid_quartz_sealer.
