Garbage Collection

The City of Calera will pick up controlled trash from residents each week Monday through Thursday.  You can check to see what day your garbage is to be picked up by referring to the garbage pick-up schedule map.

Garbage cans should be out and ready for pick-up by 6:00 am. In order to receive this service you should contact, Public Works at (205) 668-3511 and request a pick-up.

Missed Trash Pick-Up

If your can was out and ready for pick-up by 6:00 AM but it was not picked up on time, you can click here and request a "missed trash pick up", 

Additional Garbage Cans

If you would like to get an additional trash can, you can add an additional can to your account for $14 per month. You can complete the request online in our "Forms" section or by clicking here.

Damaged Garbage Cans

If your can has been damaged due to normal wear and tear like wheels falling off, handles breaking, etc.  you can complete a repair request online in our "Forms" section or by clicking here.

Garbage Fee Exemption Application

If your household’s only source of income is social security, you are eligible to apply for the exemption. Applicants must reapply for the exemption every year. Click here to complete the application online. 

Collection of Moving Boxes

The City of Calera offers a one-time collection of moving boxes when you move into a residence. Click here to make a request to have the boxes collected. 

Recycling

The City of Calera does not currently participate in a recycling program.

New Year's Trash Collection Schedule

  • Monday, December 30th - Monday trash route will be collected
  • Tuesday, December 31st - Tuesday trash route will be collected
  • Wednesday, January 1st - Public Works closed
  • Thursday, January 2nd - Wednesday's trash route will be collected
  • Friday, January 3rd - Thursday's trash route will be collected
