Verification

[edit]

Just sending a quick note to please make sure you are properly summarizing what secondary sources say when you make additions to articles. An open edit request brought me to our article on Phonk, and a few editors who disagreed with your recent addition there. I'm not familiar with either genre so I visited your supplied sources only to learn that basically everything you wrote failed verification. The first reference is to a NYT article about Art Basel in Miami, where Brazilian phonk is mentioned once: Mr. Korine described the sound, an aggressive blend of Brazilian phonk with elements of trap music, South Florida rap, ’90s pop and metal, as something made by "gamers in favelas.” Yet you used that to write, Brazilian phonk, a subgenre of hip-hop, blends traditional Brazilian rhythms with the dark, atmospheric beats of Memphis rap, creating a unique and captivating soundscape that has gained a dedicated following both locally and internationally. I don't speak Portuguese, but translated versions of the other references failed verification as well, and a Ctrl+F for "Kordhell" returns no hits in the source that is supposed to support the claim that he is one of the genre's pioneers. Please be careful going forward and just summarize reliable sources when writing. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 21:49, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Next time, try verifying the next source. Not all sources are there to support the claims other sources are backing, instead they are there to help notability. Kordhell, for example, is mentioned in multiple sources cited. Of course they should be repeatedly cited inline, which I failed. But it's not my fault you also lack skills to verify information you read. --MikutoH talk! 02:15, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
