FAC
- Ref (36) WWI — keep the info; you could have either change the refto the memorial, or, better, keep the existing ref and say that it's based on the memorial. Might have to change the number to 61 if the others cannot be verified
- ref (37) Awards — as you say, should be easy to corroborate
- ref (43) WWII — as with ref 36
- ref (96) — leave Firemark ref as is unless it's queried by another reviewer

- Please don't be discouraged by my comments so far at your FAC. Many people find leads difficult to write, but they're so important to get right, as they're a window into the article. I'll be happy to try and help if you find yourself struggling with it. Looking on the bright side, I think the body of the article is probably there or there abouts for FAC, so, as I said, don't be discouraged by my initial comments. BTW, what does "stet" mean? Malleus Fatuorum 18:54, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- I am not discouraged. Far from it. I am going to struggle though. Just editing now. I am giving it a go. I think I may have to Stet some things though and thus ask for your help. --Senra (talk) 18:59, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Picturesque - yes you did thanks. It's one of those subjective terms that unless it's cited someone will object to. NtheP (talk) 20:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Leigh and Bransford
Hi Senra, thanks for your kind offer of help. It's not so much the infobox itself that I get stuck on, it's things like finding the coords and getting the maps to display correctly. If you can find that stuff, I would be most grateful. Somehow Jeni has a tool where she can batch create things like this for dozens of stubs in seconds flat.--Kudpung (talk) 08:53, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Done Leigh_and_Bransford now has a populated infobox. It needs checking. I reckon Leigh with Bransford] is now a ward consisting of two civil parishes. I cannot find an area so the population density is not filled in in the infobox - I hope this helps --Senra (talk) 09:34, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for that Senra. L & B is in fact a civil parish (just about mile from my UK home), in the Malvern District but I haven't gto round to pasting the page contents yet. Jeni used to be the ace batch processor for infobox content and pics on our WP:WORCS stubs, but I guess she is busy in real life at the moment. We still have few more stubs that need infoboxes... --Kudpung (talk) 10:09, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks again for your kind offer. I won't burden you with a list, but as I work through the Worcs stubs I may field one out to you occasionally if that's ok.--Kudpung (talk) 10:28, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
DYK for George_Shepherd_(artist)

Subpage housekeeping
{{helpme}} PLEASE NOTE: I wish to do the below myself so I do not need to call for help each time in future. However, I am uncertain, so I am asking for guidance. PLEASE do not carry out any deletions or anything as a result of the below (unless of course your answer befuddles me, and in that case I will call for help again)
I recently used the template {{List subpages}} on my user page which revealed some pages that I feel can be deleted. However, before I take such a drastic step, I thought I had better check with an expert first. What I am not certain of specifically, is how to interpret the what-links-here page to check if things will need fixing BEFORE I delete the relevant pages. Let me list them all with my perceived next steps, and let us see where it gets us
- Yep, I see. Give me 15 mins or something, and I will have a look at each, give you my own opinions, and suggestions. Chzz ► 15:02, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Doing
First off, it helps if we have links to the pages. You could put e.g. [[User:Senra/Icons]]
which makes "User:Senra/Icons" or, you could put [[User:Senra/Icons|Icons]]
which makes "Icons".
But even smarter, is putting this;
{{Special:Prefixindex/User:Senra/}} {{Special:Prefixindex/User talk:Senra/}}
...which does this...

Sure; you might also wish to wrap that in a collapsed thingy;
{{Collapse top|Subpages for this user}} <div>Subpages for this user:{{Special:Prefixindex/User:Senra/}}{{Special:Prefixindex/User talk:Senra/}}</div> {{Collapse bottom}}
So, now, to answer;

User Senra
1,2 - sure, fine, that's your own stuff.
3. User:Senra/Little Thetford flesh-hook - note, this is just a redirect. If you go to here, then you'll see that the page contains just one line, to redirect to the live article. If you want to delete that, fine, just edit it - note, edit the redirect page, not the live article! - and {{db-self}} on the top of it.
4. Userboxes, fine, your own thing
5, 6 User:Senra/monobook.js and vector.js - these pages are for customised scripts.
- In Wikipedia, you can choose different skins. You choose that in 'my preferences'. The default skin now is 'Vector', and previously, it was 'Monobook'.
- Depending on which one you are using, the system loads any optional scripts that you put in these files.
- In your monobook version, you are loading a script that counts the size of articles, User:Dr pda/prosesize.js, which is documented in User:Dr pda/prosesize.
- In Monobook, you're loading User:AndyZ/peerreviewer.js, which lets you review articles; documented in User:AndyZ/peerreviewer.
- 3. If I delete User:Senra/Little Thetford flesh-hook there are 5 what-links-here links though
- Yep, sure - when people discussed the page. You could possibly edit those pages and update the link, but that's probably not a good idea; people don't like you fiddling around in archives. Best thing then, is just leave it. Redirects are cheap; it isn't doing any harm. The same is true of all these things; there is no benefit in deleting old userspace stuff, unless you simply want to 'tidy up' for your own convenience. It doesn't save any space, as the other helper noted below; deleted pages are still stored on the server, that's how we can 'undelete' things. And besides, disk space is so cheap these days, we don't care. Chzz ► 16:57, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

User Talk:Senra
1. Your talk page - yes, of course, you don't want that deleting; that's where we're talking now. Notice in those Prefixindex/User:Senra/
things above, because of the trailing forward-slashes /, it does not display your user/user-talk pages.
2. Archive, yep, fine. I expect this lot will be moving there shortly...
3. User talk:Senra/Christchurch Lead - OK, yep, so just edit it and put {{db-self}}, if you wish to tidy up.
4. Another redirect to the live article - so, as previously, you can edit the redirect itself, if you wish.
5. Your work-in-progess, fair enough. Personally, I'd suggest keeping all such pages in just 'User:Senra' rather than 'User talk:Senra', and you could move it if you wanted.
6. User talk:Senra/Little Thetford flesh-hook is another redirect, pointing to Talk:Little Thetford flesh-hook. When pages are moved, the system creates these redirects automatically. It does no harm, and they can prevent old links from 'breaking' - but by all means delete it if you wish; again, make sure you go to [the redirect itself, and edit that, not the target. You can get to it yourself by a) going to User talk:Senra/Little Thetford flesh-hook, which redirects you, then b) clicking the small but under the heading, where it says;
- (Redirected from User talk:Senra/Little Thetford flesh-hook)

...and, I hope that's answered.
Feel free to talk to us with this thing (which is great for quick help), or of course use another {{helpme}}. Cheers, Chzz ► 16:52, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Just tried talking with the thingy. Looks a little busy to me. As discussed in the thingy, I will not be deleting anything due to leaving red-links all over. Your analysis has helped enormously to clear my head and see the wood through the trees. Have fun and thank you for your help. --Senra (talk) 17:18, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Another reply
The What links here page shows all pages that contain a link to the page in question. Deleting user-space pages is no big deal. You can nominate them for speedy del by {{db-u1}} and {{db-userreq}} templates. Please note that deleting a page however, does not help save space. But go ahead and delete them if you have no use for the pages. The page is retained in the server for future refernce. The monobook.js and vector.js pages are pages where you can paste user-scripts such as Twinkle and Friendly depending on which Skin you are using.--Forty twoThanks for all the fish! 15:20, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Polly Morgan
As you saw, I am willing to help the user Perryjarvis (talk · contribs) write the biography of Polly Morgan. I was wondering what the best approach is here. We have a page that has been deleted twice over some period; a (potentially) new user who may be struggling with the guidelines; an offer of help. Would it be possible to anticipate the process, and in an effort to be helpful, un-delete the page just deleted, and move it to User:Perryjarvis/Polly Morgan, then I could have a shot at tidying it up? As you saw, I believe there are enough references to start a proto article at least --Senra (talk) 19:11, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- text placed at User:Perryjarvis/Polly Morgan as requested Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:32, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- OK, thank you. Had a very quick run through. Have to drop someone at the airport so be back later to tidy this up more --Senra (talk) 08:34, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Maps (1790–1914)
I was browsing the resources of Maproom (talk · contribs) at Maproom.org. Some very interesting maps. For example
- Cary's Traveller's Companion (1790):Cambridgshire Little Thetford is not shown but Braham is. Presumably this is Braham Farm
- Cary's New Itinery (1817) The Road from London to Cambridge, Ely, & Kings Lynn; even Cary's coach routes map does not show the village. This series is well worth a look if your a searching for filler for your favourite hamlet, village, town, or city in England
- Bett's Family Atlas (1846):The Southern Part of England
atlasat last shows Little Thetford as Thetford which makes me feel like yelling at those nice people at FAC ce n'est pas grave - Hobson's Fox-Hunting Atlas (1850) Cambridgeshire and Thetford again; also shown is the ferry across the Great Ouse, Bedwell Hey Farm, as well as Braham Farm
- Philips' Handy Atlas of the Counties of England (c1895) The Counties of Cambridge Isle of Ely and Huntingdon with Thetford clearly marked. We are on the map at last
- Stanford's Geological Atlas of Great Britain and Ireland (1914)(3 ed.) Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire shows we are on Kimmeridge clay. It also reports that the surrounding peat deposits contain the remains of bear and beaver etc! Now where did I put that shovel?
These are great resources Maproom. I hope more people start to use them --Senra (talk) 10:22, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Biography of Ælfwaru (d. 1007)
I wrote to Professor Keynes at Trinity, Cambridge recently and have not yet had a reply. Can anyone help with this request shown italic below please?
I am an amateur historian. I have written the wikipedia article, Little Thetford. Whilst I was reading about the village, I came across references to a noblewoman named Ælfwaru. She is documented within the Liber Eliensis as bequeathing "...land at Thetford and fisheries around those marshes..." to Ely Abbey. Fairweather (2005) Liber Eliensis, p. 159, note 294 suggests Thetford, in this context, is Little Thetford, near Ely, Cambridgeshire. Ælfwaru appears to be the first documented landowner of Little Thetford.
I came across David O'Neale, who also researched the same Ælfwaru about 15 years ago, for, and on behalf of, the village of Bridgham. David showed me a photograph of the chirograph mentioned above. I would like to obtain a copy of that photo for wikipedia. The simplest, from a complicated licensing point of view, would be for me to come along and photograph the page myself. If that is not possible, there may be other non intrusive (to you) ways of licensing such a photo for wikipedia use. Requesting copyright permission for wikipedia is not easy as they demand that such images may be freely changed by anyone. This is why it is easier for me to take a photo.
David also appears to have confirmed Ælfwaru's (or is it Ælfwara) death date as [d. 27 February] from an obituary in MS Cambridge, Trinity College O. 2.1 and [d. 1007] from Ramsey Chronicle. By linking the Ely Ælfwaru with the Ramsey Ælfwaru we appear to be able to deduce the Ælfwaru of Little Thetford's father, Æthelstan_Mannessune. He bequeathed fisheries to his wife and children, in the Ramsey chronicle I believe. Then we have the fact that Liteltetford is mentioned in the Domesday book as "Abbot of Ely. Fisheries (3250 eels).". The fisher(y/ies) all tie nicely together. Still, it could all be a load of hogwash, as I also believe Ælfwaru was a common name. Still, very interesting stuff (to me at least).

Newspaper article
I've (temporarily) uploaded the article at File:Little Thetford church.jpeg. Because the database automatically highlights search terms, I don't think the image will actually be useful for anything, so I'm planning to delete it once you confirm you've seen it and saved a copy, should you so wish. By the way, is there any reason why William Sole is no longer mentioned in the article? He does appear to be the most notable person from the village, so it seems a strange omission. Good work, anyway. Warofdreams talk 23:26, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. As I said on your talk page, nice find. Do you have online access to that newspaper? I have access to an on-line PDF of clippings for the area starting in 1897.
- Yes, I do have access, through the British Library archive of nineteenth-century newspapers. There are occasional mentions of Little Thetford in it, but this and the accidents at the railway crossing are the most interesting stories (otherwise, they are one about a chorister who died when about to embark on a journey to the village and a few about taxation or minor crimes. Warofdreams talk 23:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Poor William got removed during FAC
- --Senra (talk) 23:40, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- I can see the comment, but it seemed to just be asking why he had his own section, not demanding removal. I can't see any reason not to give him a mention in the history section. Warofdreams talk 23:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- FAC people suggested I weave him into history somewhere. I thought I would wait until FAC was over (one way or another) before making such changes; I was especially careful when one related discussion somewhere, now archived I suspect, was disdainful of the trend of other articles to list everyone and his dog as notable. Perhaps I am being too cautious --Senra (talk) 07:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
