The Army of the Last Reality (also known as just The Last Reality) is an ancient inter-reality empire originating from the Last Reality, in Fortnite that was first introduced indirectly in Season 5, but directly in Chapter 2: Season 7. The Army of the Last Reality is a group of aliens of different species, monsters, demons, artificial intelligences, supernatural entities and cosmic entities who all share the common goal of destroying all realities of the Omniverse to revert it back to Nothing. They operate under an imperialist regime, but with several rulers.

They are the main antagonists of Fortnite, serving as:

• The main antagonists of Fortnite: Save the World, LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite: Battle Royale: Season 5, Season 6, Chapter 2: Season 7, Chapter 2: Season 8, Chapter 3: Season 3, Chapter 3: Season 4 and Chapter 4: Season OG
• The overarching antagonists of Chapter 2: Season 6 and Chapter 4: Season 2.
• The secondary antagonists of Chapter 2: Season 1.
• Minor antagonists of Season X.

Overview

Although they all have different reasons for doing so, the common goal of all its members is to destroy every reality in The Omniverse. Their members can be recruited by any of the different subfactions, but some are recruited by The Nothing itself, the primordial entity in existence before the birth of The Zero Point, the latter being one of their main targets for unspecified reasons. As of Chapter 6: Season 1, it was revealed The Zero Point was destroyed but its unclear if they're behind this or not.

The Aliens

The Army of the Last Reality is composed of an untold number of alien species, with entire alien ecosystems in their hands. They notably use their very advanced technology to create weapons, vehicles and even soldiers, all powered by The Cubes' dark power, giving them a near-limitless amount of energy. In addition to this, the aliens study the species they encounter and their technology, in order to continually improve their own. This results in an extremely powerful and mobile military force that can invade hundreds of realities in short period of time, with just one of the countless Motherships largely outgunning the Imagined Order. They are ruled by The Cube Queen. Captured prisoners on the Mothership are subjected to experiments.

The Cube Legion

In addition to the alien military forces, there is the Cube Legion. The main members are the countless Corruption and Golden Cubes created by The Cube Queen and The Cube King and which are placed in very large quantities inside Motherships as well as the Cube's Cradle, the main ship of The Last Reality's fleet. They serve both as energy source for The Aliens but also as an additional military force as they can summon monsters from The Sideways or create their own to serve as soldiers. In case an Alien Mothership fail its invasion and crashes like it happened in Chapter 2: Season 7 and Fortnite: Save the World, The Cube Legion will act on by themselve. If they have accumulated enough energy they can open a portal to summon the entire Alien armada in addition to the Sideways monsters or evolve into an army of Storm Kings and summon The Storm. Cubes can also corrupt certain powerful people like Cube Assassin and make them join The Cube Legion as well as create dark reflexions of people. Some Cubes can be sent alone to destroy Realities, as it happened with Kevin the Cube. The Cube Legion attempted to destroy Reality Zero along with The Aliens, which ended unsuccessfully.

Storm King's Acolytes

Beside the Cube Monsters from the Cube Legion and other Storm Monsters that Storm Kings can summon, they also have their own forces known as the Storm King's Acolytes or simply as Storm Acolytes. This fanatic faction is composed of beings that are much more evolved versions of Cube Monsters as well as people empowered by the Storm King. Their Elite units were granted special abilities by the Storm Kings.

Others

It seems that there are also other parts of the Army of the Last Reality that are not very well known, such as The Nothing's envoys, including The Herald and Bytes who are not affiliated with either of the three previously mentioned subgroups (although they are actively collaborating). They managed to destroy Reality Zero by themselves during Fracture.

Although The Last Reality has multiple subfactions, it is not uncommon for members to be part of multiple subfactions at once.

• The Trespassers Elite are part of the Alien army, but are actually Cubes, making them members of the Cube Legion.
• The Cube Queen, and formerly The Cube King, lead both the Aliens and the Cube Legion.
• The Storm Kings, despite leading their own subfaction known as Storm Acolytes, are actually Corruption Cubes and so, are part of the Cube Legion as well.
• The Herald appears to be a Pluxarian of the same species as Bloom, and so part of the Alien army. However, she is also directly under The Nothing's orders.

Major Locations

The Cube's Cradle		A gigantic ship the size of a moon or even a planet guarded by a gigantic fleet of Golden Motherships. Countless Corruption Cubes and Golden Cubes are found inside.
Motherships		The command ships of The Last Reality, which hold Abductors and Saucers. They are seperated to two classes, purple and golden. The Purple Motherships travel alone looking for realities to study, then invade them to either transform them into colonies or completely annihilate them. The golden Motherships travel alongside The Cube's Cradle and serve as the main fleet to destroy realities Purple Motherships can't destroy alone.
The Pyramid		A fortress over The Aftermath that was created by all the Corruption Cubes and their babies merging into one, with The Golden Cube on the top of it. It acts as a beacon to open a portal to the fleet of The Last Reality.
Herald's Sanctum		The Herald's chrome fortress.
The Tempest		LEGO Storm King's dungeon at the heart of LEGO Fortnite's world.

Abductors		Ships used to abduct various things to their Mothership. They also come in gold and purple similar to The Motherships, with the golden ones mainly used for destruction.
The Aftermath		The result of the destruction of The Spire, by the Last Reality. It was also home to the Party UFO, an Abductor that did not function like the others but instead had pads with various effects.
Holly Hatchery		Previously known as Holly Hedges was taken over by The Last Reality in order to terraform it to a similar state as their home world. This was achieved with numerous Alien Parasites, and low gravity fields.
Invaded Locations		The Last Reality often invade Named Locations, by having several Saucers hover overhead, piloted by Trespassers.

The Looper	An agent of The Last Reality sent on a mission by Kymera in Reality Zero before the start of chapter 1. They ended up forgetting everything and now oppose them, as they do not remember. However, the infiltrated Trespasser claimed that they will remember in time.[5]

Dahlia	Instigated Syndicate sabotage in MEGA City and secretly communicated with the Last Reality. She collaborated with Triarch Nox, but was likely manipulated by him. She was also the one who brought the Chalice of Cubetastrophe through the Rift Gate.
Triarch Nox	Triarch of Darkness described as "hostile to all, friend to none" and one of the two Triarchs still alive. He was manipulate by The Nothing after his home Reality crumbled, he joined The Unseen for a bit and collaborated with Dahlia and Styx to sabotage the Syndicates and communicate with the Last Reality.
Zorgoton	An alien who has been on the island for years now. Seen cheering when the Spire was destroyed.
Sunny	A human that wants to escape the Earth and join Aliens. She believes the aliens are friends rather than enemies.
Maven	A human that attempted to sabotage the Imagined Order's plan of Operation: Sky Fire, to help The Last Reality.

History

Before Chapter 1

• After destroying countless worlds, The Cube King leaves The Army of the Last Reality and is captured by the Imagined Order. He escapes and joins The Seven as The Origin.
• The Cube Queen becomes the sole ruler of the Last Reality and lead her forces to attack and destroy realities in The Omniverse.
• By creating The Loop, the Imagined Order used The Storm as a key part of it, controlling it remotely with their devices to avoid it going wild.

Save the World

• Multiple purple Motherships of the Army of the Last Reality crashed on the planet at an undetermined moment in time at Frozen Fjords at the Boreal Base. Crashed Abductors, Alien Parasites eggs, Alien Biome and petrified Chrome crystals can also be found near the crash site.
• Later, the cubes from the crashed motherships summoned The Storm, bringing Husks and Mist Monsters. These creatures were drawn on cave walls in Canny Valley and one day, The Storm mysteriously vanished; the plan seems to have failed for some unknown reason.
• Dr. Vinderman somehow got information on the Storm King and The Nothing before their arrival, potentially through discovering the cave drawings.
• Several of the Motherships' Cubes evolved into Storm Kings and summoned The Storm once again, wiping 98% of the world’s population, turning them to Husks, and taking over Save the World Reality's Earth. Homebase is formed from the survivors and fights back against The Storm.

Season 5

A Corruption Cube was sent by The Army of Last Reality to the Island via a Sideways Rift. It began rolling and creating Glyphs. It later made its way into Loot Lake and dissolved within it.

Season 6

Recharged with energy, the Cube rose from Loot Lake, taking a chunk of land with it, and exposing the location of The Zero Point. The Cube Island begins travelling above Athena and took power from the Glyphs it had previously created to gain even more power. It returned to Loot Lake and then injected its energy into The Storm, unleashing an explosion which sent hordes of Cube Monsters to the Island. From there, the Loopers fought the Cube and attacked it relentlessly, damaging it little by little. During a final battle between the Loopers and the Cube Monsters, the Cube exploded.

Season X

The Scientist used a Rift Beacon on Mega Mall, which brought a version of Retail Row from an alternate reality filled with Cube Monsters. He uses another Rift Beacon on Fatal Fields which brought an alternate reality version of Kevin the Cube in a different Floating Island.

Chapter 2: Season 1

During Fortnitemares 2019, a Storm King found^[6] the Island, corrupting the Eye Land which became Isle Of The Storm and taking control of The Storm, summoning Cube Monsters. However Loopers defeated this Storm King and Eye Land reverted back to its original state.

Chapter 2: Season 6

A long time after the construction of The Spire, it became corrupted by an unknown force and began killing people who ventured too close or giving them more power, but corrupting them by exploiting their weaknesses. Raz gets corrupted through a Spire Artifact, which was a fragment of the heart of The Spire itself. Raz became so powerful that he attracted unwanted attention, by guiding a Mothership directly to the Island. An unknown type of Kymera ship starts to randomly abduct Players. Crop Circles with the logo of The Army of the Last Reality appear in Colossal Crops.

Chapter 2: Season 7

The Army of the Last Reality arrived through The Mothership and destroyed The Spire in an attempt to abduct The Zero Point. They deployed their troops and Saucers while The Mothership began moving. It firstly abducts Slurpy Swamp, then Coral Castle, and finally Corny Complex. Trespassers took over Holly Hedges and turned it to Holly Hatchery as a place for Alien Parasites.

Operation: Sky Fire

Doctor Slone prepared a strike team to infiltrate The Mothership as they are abducting Corny Complex. The team goes through The Mothership, avoiding Trespassers, and are locked in the Abduction Chamber Window. A Corruption Cube rises from the water and zaps the Loopers. Slone shuts it down and leaves The Loopers to die after the Countermeasure Devices are set. The Loopers reboot the Cube and it activates the elevator. They witness a group of Cubes that act as the power source of The Mothership along with the Golden Cube. The bombs detonate, and The Mothership, along with all the Cubes, fall on Apollo.

Chapter 2: Season 8

The Army of the Last Reality continued their invasion of Reality Zero. After the events of Operation: Sky Fire, The Cubes crashed on the island, along with the Cube Queen and the Rebooted Cube. During these events, Sideways Anomalies started appearing across the island, converting POIs into The Sideways and releasing Cube Monsters that are lead by Cube Assassins. The aftermath of Operation: Sky Fire was visible on the new season's map. The wreckage of The Mothership was visible on the horizon and debris from destroyed Abductors littered the Island. The Golden Cube began rolling around the island to awaken the other cubes. After they all reach The Aftermath, they form The Convergence which later turns into The Pyramid.

The End

The Cube Queen started her attack and opened a portal to the Cube's Cradle. She summons Caretakers to defeat The Loopers and abducts their weapons through The Saucers. The Rebooted Cube zaps and eliminates Caretakers, but a Golden Abductor destroys it. Golden Abductors destroy Locations as the Loopers are saved by The Scientist and The Visitor. The Cube Queen sends Caretakers underwater, with one arriving above The Bridge, before it destroys the glass ceiling and floods the place as Apollo flips and reveals Artemis. The flipping of the Island causes the energy from the Pyramid to explode, seemingly destroying the Cube Queen and closing the portal.

Chapter 3: Season 3

In the cinematic trailer, The Herald can be seen watching the Reality Tree.

Chapter 3: Season 4

The Seven is captured by the Chrome and sent to the Last Reality. The Herald arrives and spreads Chrome around Artemis, The Nothing's voice revealed in the Bytes Quests, where it recruits Bytes to their cause.

Fracture

Chrome Vortices proceed to appear around the Island as The Herald makes her way to the Reality Tree. After rising in a giant form, she succeeds in chroming the tree in the Fracture Event. With the entire Island covered in Chrome, The Herald successfully destroyed island and exposed the dormant Zero Point, causing Reality Zero to go dark. The Paradigm and The Looper activated the Zero Fusion, reforging Reality Zero and creating a whole new Island and returned the Zero Point to safety.

Chapter 4: Season 1

In Oathbound Quests, AMIE's test subjects sent through her Test Rifts encountered it sculpting The Seven into something new and different. One of the test subjects returned to AMIE as a Cube Monster.

Chapter 4: Season 2

In Syndicate Quests, someone in The Unseen was secretly communicating with The Army of Last Reality and helped them by sabotaging syndicates with information related to them, causing chaos in all syndicates. The saboteur's goal was to take over MEGA City with their help, naively believing that The Last Reality would keep their word when they were just planning to destroy everything. The sabotage was stopped by the Peace Syndicate.

Chapter 4: Season 3 & Chapter 4: Season 4

The power that allowed Asteria to exist has started to fade, and Reality Zero has found itself doomed to collapse. Noticing this, "formidable enemies" began to make their way to the Island, The Army of Last Reality was implied to be among them.

Chapter 4: Season OG

The Cube of Fortnite OG's Reality rose from Loot Lake, taking the cabin and island in the center of the lake with it, forming the Floating Island as did both of its counterparts. Because of the notable difference of this timeline compared to Reality Zero, it didn't appeared from the Sideways Rift but directly under Loot Lake. It therefore never placed its runes and its plan was totally different from its Original Timeline Counterpart. Indeed since it was not hostile towards the loopers because it did not have enough energy to attack them, they therefore didn't attacked Kevin which allowed it to survive longer than it should have. This allowed it to extract the Zero Point and absorb its energy. However it completely dissapeared just before The Big Bang, having been allegedly rifted or destroyed off-screen likely due to Jones' actions.

LEGO Fortnite

The Storm started to invade LEGO Reality, infecting animals, monsters and even people making them more powerful and aggressive.

Later, The Storm King himself arrived in the LEGO World, corrupting Raven to make him his new servant and made himself a dungeon in the Rift at the heart of the world where he can consume infinite rift energy to power the Storm, corrupt and destroy the whole reality. He and his forces are fought by the STorm Chasers and otehr residents of the LEGO world, however, they're unable to defeat him for good as each time he return along with his storms.

Trivia

• After Chapter 4: Season 1, the faction was renamed The Army of the Last Reality.
  • The reason for this change has not been explained, but it is likely that it was because their old name created confusion as to whether the Last Reality referred to an organization or a reality.
• A popular fan theory was that Fortnite: Save the World was one of the realities conquered by The Last Reality, this is evidenced by appearance of the Corruption Cubes and The Nothing as well as Battle Royale Cube Monsters being based on Husks.
  • This theory was later confirmed during Chapter 4: Season OG as crashed motherships and abductors as well as crystalized Chrome appears in Frosty Fjords Venture, explaining how Cubes ended in Save The World's Reality.
• A popular theory was that The Storm is from The Last Reality. This would make sense as it acts similar to The Cubes in its aggressiveness as well as its obvious purple colour. More evidence to back this up is that The Mothership and Aliens onboard were not affected at all by The Storm as well as their ship glowing brightly above it.
  • This theory was later confirmed when The Cubes and by extension The Storm Kings where confirmed as members of The Army of Last Reality.
• The name "Kymera" is derived from "Chimera", a term used in genetics.
• Before the The End there was a common misconception that The Aliens and The Cube Legion were different factions.
• Out of all the Factions in Fortnite: Battle Royale they have by far the biggest and most powerful military force.
  • Yet, it appears we haven't seen all their military force.
• Their main theme is The Invasion, Cube Theme and Nothing is Inevitable.

• According to The Foundation during A New Day cutscene, there are threats similar and worse than The Last Reality.
  • However, all similar threats introduced after that statement turned out to be part of The Last Reality, such as The Herald, and her master The Nothing.
