Rules of thumb

[edit]

These are a few rules of thumb that I've found useful. Well, there's only one at the moment:

Smalljim's old CSD indicator (SOCI)

[edit]

When one or two candidate articles for speedy deletion have remained uncleared for much longer than all the other candidates (as shown by this page), that strongly suggests that although several admins must have looked at those articles, each admin has decided against taking any action. That indication of admin inaction provides sufficient circumstantial evidence that those articles are not appropriate for speedy deletion, and they probably should be PROD'ed or AFD'ed instead.
