Biased narratives being spread

[edit]

Hi RealKnockout I have recently noticed these 3 edits on Balochistan related articles [1][2] and [3] the user who made them is Wareon they have been going around adding large amounts of information from 1 political scientist Rafi Sheikh while modifying existing edits and adding his own commentary such as "according to Pakistani narrative" he values Rafi Sheikh views but as soon as a political scientist like Pervez Iqbal adds his view he calls it the Pakistani narrative.

This diff [[4] in particular shows the agenda they hold they have added paragraph after paragraph of text from Rafis book I was wondering is the use of one source and adding allot of content from it fall under UNDUE wiki rule? Surely the counter view should be added since Balochistan is the main article page I think that content should be merged with History of Balochistan article for example Hyderabad article which is state which was forcibly annexed by India has very little on its annexation but Indian editors descend upon Balochistan with swathes of text to push a certain narrative should his opinion (Rafi Sheikh) be given such huge weight considering other views are minimized and called "Pakistani narratives". TruthUnknown1 (talk) 16:19, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there @TruthUnknown1: I do think that it is strange that he gives this much weight to this book, which appears to be called The Genesis of Baloch Nationalism: Politics and Ethnicity in Pakistan, 1947–1977. Perhaps you should consider contacting him on his talk page rather than me and see what his explanation for this is. RealKnockout (talk) 16:49, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for replying RealKnockout|RealKnockout I know the reason Wareon is trying to push a one sided narrative mostly driven by his anti-Pakistani agenda he uses that one source to discredit Pakistan and unfortunately they are from India so its natural he will be trying to spread misinformation but notice how the article on Hyderabad in India hardly mentions how it became part of India and barely mentions how India militarily forced Hyderabad to be part of India while Balochistan contains several paragraphs of clearly one sided propaganda and he cherry picks one book to spread a certain narrative. TruthUnknown1 (talk) 21:31, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you contact Wareon and ask him to explain his reasoning before making any hasty conclusions. RealKnockout (talk) 22:35, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of 1898 Baloch uprising

[edit]

Hi - just a good faith comment/observation on your nomination of this article. Do you have access to JSTOR? I was able to locate references to this event with about five minutes of searching on JSTOR. If you don't have access, I'd highly recommend it and one can get access with a Wikipedia library card. Just a thought. Regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 23:33, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do have a Wikipedia library card and therefore access to JSTOR. I will let the AfD run its course and see what people decide; Someone gave a good suggest about redirecting the page to History of Balochistan and making a section there. For now, I will simply wait and see. If it is kept, I will read through the sources; if there are enough I will expand the page, if not I will redirect it and make a section. Thanks a lot for letting me know. RealKnockout (talk) 22:48, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's more than enough material for an article and I only spent five minutes on JSTOR and five minutes on Google; I encourage you to make more use of your library card! :) Regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 11:05, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dawood

[edit]

The article is clearly heavily influenced by undeclared paid editors. All the images are claimed to be donated by the foundation, and the text is clearly written by insiders eg The Foundation was conceived in a spirit of dedication and believes there can be no progress without education.. Many of the references are to sources connected to the foundation, and, as always with these COI projects we start with "Missions and values", but don't bother with real facts such as numbers of employees income or expenditure. Basically, it's a promo for what they claim to do with NPOV like The Foundation was conceived in a spirit of dedication and believes there can be no progress without education. TDF endeavours to undertake educational projects that are crucial for the advancement and prosperity of people... a cutting-edge and exemplary business school that equips students with indispensable knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the current and upcoming competitive era... It is very popular in the local community... I'll restore as a draft at Draft:Dawood Foundation so you can address the issues if you wish. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:44, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Jimfbleak: I have removed the more blatant NPOV violations from the article. However, there are numerous sources which allow the article to pass GNG. Couldn't the article simply be moved back to articlespace with the {{NPOV language}} template? RealKnockout (talk) 12:57, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the numerous sources include YouTube and obvious non-WP:RS sources, so that needs fixing too. It's clearly notable, but the point of draft pages is to get the page up to article standard, not just to move it back with tags saying it's not up to scratch.
If you decide to move it back, that's up to you, and I won't delete it, but bear in mind that it had been nominated for deletion by another editor, so your call Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:44, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
