About the conference
As part of its efforts towards achieving global climate neutrality, the European Commission takes part in the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Since 1995, the United Nations Climate Change Conferences bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
In previous editions, the EU helped to achieve a range of milestones and agreements including

reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 43% by 2030

COP29 in Baku
The 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11-22, 2024. It aims to accelerate global climate action amid escalating environmental challenges. The conference will focus on securing the significant financial investments needed to reduce emissions and protect vulnerable populations, while also urging nations to update their climate action plans to meet the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C target.
