Thank you for renaming the Fay coats-of-arms files :
Blason famille fr de Faÿ, Blason famille fr de Faÿ d'Etables, Blason famille fr de Faÿ de Villiers
Nevertheless, the correct spelling is actually Fay and not Faÿ, that's why I've asked for this exact correction.
It wasn't a mistake on my part, the error is a reading error that occurred a long time ago and that has spread to the articles.
If you look at the first reference url in the first file, there's the correct spelling, and Faÿ is indicated in brackets to specifiy the pronunciation.
The 2nd reference also gives the correct spelling.
References for the 2 other files can be found here (pages 199, 201), and also give the correct spelling.
A more recent reference is also available (Jougla de Morenas, t. III, p. 356).
Is it possible for you to reprocess the files with the correct spelling ?

• @Kontributor 2K: I was thinking about it... And I saw its usement at fr.wiki => look here. It's widely used as "Faÿ", the "Fay" spelling is in the minority. The original uploader (who's opinion is most impostant - he can always change the name using criterion #1 of renaming) named it "Faÿ", too... I think that the reason of your refuse to rename the file Pianta della Chiesa di San Marco a Venezia.jpg isn’t right. I hope you will change opinion and rename the file.

Note that I created the category and added not casually the files inside.

I understand that is not natural or simple to understand the ratio that connect all images o this category, because of their different size, orientation and point of view. But they are really all part of a whole, in two different states: the Iconografia della Ducal Basilica dell'Evangelista S. Marco published in 1726 and later (1761) modified and inserted in the new book L'augusta ducale basilica dell'evangelista San Marco nell'inclita dominante di Venezia.

I try to explain.

The first release of 1726 was only in loose sheet in different sizes and orientations. Each leaf were signed (with only slightly differences) Antonio Visentini […] delineò [drew] with sale informations and P. Vincenzo di S. Maria […] scolpì [Father Vincenzo Mariotti … engraved].

The second issue was bound into an unique large book of the new publisher Antonio Zatta, the signatures were canceled, and also text in the cartouches were modified.

In the etching I wish rename you can read signatures between image and description, that certify this is in first state.

In the second state the description was cut off because a new one was printed in the preceding page with the new references in roman numerals.

@Zanekost: One file can have many categories -- sometimes it has 20 or more different categories. Today you "harmonize" one of them... but tomorrow another person would "harmonize" another category -- it causes harmonization which will never end.

Read the rules for using Criterion #4 on Commons:File renaming, please: "Just because images share a category does not mean that they are part of a set. There are two scenarios that this criterion is designed for. First, certain complex templates (such as those that use BSicons or that display football kits) assume that the images used in them will follow a specific naming convention. Wikisource also uses a specific naming convention for the source files they transcribe. Second, files that form parts of a whole (such as scans from the same book or large images that are divided into smaller portions due to Commons’ upload size restriction) should follow the same naming convention so that they appear together, in order, in categories and lists" (f.e. 001/100, 002/100, 003/100).

Reagardless, your rename request from: "File:Pianta della Chiesa di San Marco a Venezia.jpg" => "File:01-state1-St. Mark basilica map.jpg" was wrong, because 1) Files should NOT be renamed to translate the filename to another language. Remember, Commons is a multilingual project, so there's no reason to favor English over other languages. 2) new name shoud not be more ambiguous than the old one.

Why you move the file and not rename it? The problem with movie is that it creates a redirect. If there is a concern for pages using the file, I should say I uploaded the file less that 3 minutes ago. So, a redirect is not requierd.

Hello! I noticed you moved the files that were inside Category:Vaga general per Palestina 2024 (Barcelona) to Category:Strike for Palestine (27 September 2024). The thing is, this Strike didn't only happen in Barcelona. It happen all over Spain, we just happen to just have pictures from Barcelona as of now. That's why the name of the city should be part of the category, so when people upload other pictures from the same strike in other cities, they don't mix them together. Hi @Wieralee, I'm trying to reorganize the ballot papers for all the elections in Spain with the bot https://jembot.toolforge.org/ and I encountered that you merged two categories form general elections in 2019. It happened to me too but the thing is that in that year there were two general elections, one in april and one in november. So the ballot papers that are categorized with something like "Category:Ballot papers for the November 2019 general election for the province of Girona " are actually the correct ones, and the ones that are categorized with something like "Category:Ballot papers for the 2019 general election for the province of Girona" (without specifying the month) are not correct because they don't specify which one of the two 2019 general elections are from. So we will create a new category for the april elections and change all the ballot papers from that elections to the new category and leave the ones that have November in it for the second elections of that year. • A movement request hanged since May 2024 [3]. The Commons rules are clear: if there's no objection for at least 14 days, requested move should be done. I haven't seen any objections, so I'd moved it.

I don't know why no one protested within 14 days of the request being created, or even later. There was no link to "Category for discussion" on the category page. There were no objections on Category talk:Automobiles. There were no protests on the Category talk page either, so I've moved it.

There is no Commons policy saying that a move suggested by one editor, with no further comment or support, should be actioned at all. Let alone one who's got a problematic history for refusing to discuss bulk page moves and is indef blocked from en:WP for doing just that. What Commons policy does say is that 'controversial' fixes need discussion, and that categories which have been stable under one name for 16 years are inherently controversial.

If admins think they're overworked, then maybe not doing make-work disruptions like this would help?

This is a problem we've seen over and over. A wiely used category is widely used, and many items are placed within it. However the category itself is so stable and uncontroversial that no-one watch lists that category page itself. A discussion on that page thus isn't seen or engaged with. When it's then acted on as "but no-one complained", it kicks off this sort of large pushback. Because only then does it have a visible effect outside the page itself.
