i hardly did any activity today, walked the dog, quick in & out at the grocery store & a few other small activities. i cannot believe my iconic indicates i walked 5.29 miles and took 11k steps. just yesterday I walked/jogged 8 miles for 12,700 steps. Is it possible it is tracking while I’m driving & turning that into steps & miles? silly question yes, but it got me thinking

It would not be tracking your driving miles per se and converting them to steps. It is possible you are getting a few steps registered while driving, just from the vibrations, particularly if you are driving on a bumpy road or such, but not likely to give you that many unless maybe you were a long haul trucker.
I suggest looking at your step count throughout the day to get an idea when you are getting credited for these steps and what you were doing then. Actually you can look at the phone app, click on the steps circle at the top, to see your steps in each hour, and see if your steps mainly came at a certain time and if your remember what you were doing then.
