Questions about moderators, their powers, and actions they have taken.

Moderators are users with maximum powers in Stack Exchange, and these powers don't depend from their reputation. You can see a small diamond (♦) after their names. Moderators can be divided in three groups:

  • community managers (SE employes)

  • pro tem moderators

  • elected moderators

Every vote of Moderator ♦ is binding, they can close, reopen, and delete questions instantly (with one vote). Also they can lock posts (preventing further changes to these posts) and merge questions.

Moderators can edit locked or deleted posts, comment on them. They can approve or reject edits single-handedly

See A Theory of Moderation for some further information.
