edit

In January 2022, she lost in the second round of the Australian Open qualifying.[3]

Preston made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in doubles at the Melbourne Summer Set 2, where she received a wildcard partnering Alexandra Osborne. She also received a wildcard into the qualifying draw for the Melbourne Summer Set 1, where she defeated former French Open finalist, Sara Errani, in the first round, before falling in the final round.[4][5]

She made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in singles at the 2022 Rosmalen Grass Court Championships as a qualifier.[6]

2024: Grand Slam debut, first WTA 125 final and maiden top 50 win

edit

Preston received a wildcard for her major debut at the 2024 Australian Open[7] but went out in the first round to Elina Svitolina.[8]

In February, she reached her first WTA 125 final at the Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, losing in three sets to McCartney Kessler.[9] Later that month at the San Diego Open, having been given a wildcard entry, she defeated world number 42 Magdalena Fręch to win her first Tour level match and also her first against a player ranked in the Women's Tennis Association top 50.[10][11] She lost her next match to sixth seed Marta Kostyuk.[12]

Preston was given a wildcard entry to make her maiden appearance at the US Open in August but lost in the first round to 25th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.[13]
