Thanks for joining in the fight against vandalism, but this kind of thing is what is called "feeding the trolls". Warn vandals curtly, but clearly where needed, clear up the damage they do, but say as little as possible that they'll later be able to gloat over or show to their chums.
Saying less, or more simply, factual and boring statements has the effect of reducing the vandal's urge to return. The vandal is looking for excitement, so making personalised statements gives the idea that the efforts are getting to us. There is a hidden, even stronger sense of fun and pride in not giving the vandals the satisfaction of getting a rise out of you.
Perhaps, if you want to get more involved in vandal fighting, you want to add a {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} user tag to your user page. It displays like this:

Thanks for your efforts you made on that article, I happened to be the "caretaker" of that article, and I actually thought of this idea a long time ago to have sorted tables, but I do not know how to do it in Wiki format, and finally someone came over to make it worthwhile. :-) Thanks alot!
You're welcome. It was my pleasure helping out. Lately, I've been surfing aroung Wikipedia looking for lists that need some help. I've noticed a lot of people aren't very good with the Wiki formatting and after a while things just start to get hairy. I'll try to finish up the parodies table tonight or tomorrow. Hey man, sorry. I was going to answer but I got distracted, busy and end up forgetting.
Well, my problem with those images is that I saw a lot of gradients and strong anti-aliasing, which is extremely unnatural for MS Paint drawings, especially of that magnitude. The fact the images were poorly-compressed JPEGs didn't help much on this aspect either. (you should consider providing full resolution images on a lossless format such as PNG or GIF)
You're saying now that you've used additional programs for special effects, and some of these can be explained by that. Still, it seems that the largest resolutions available were not the full resolutions of those images, so it just doesn't look pixel artish enough for something detailed and of this scale made in MS Paint. It looked a lot more like some mix between vector and pixel art to me, and that's why I found it hard to believe.
But well, I don't know what to do, really. All Wikipedia has is your word on it, and that's not really verifiable. What I know is that if the link is to be included, it should also mention any of the other tools used. Also, be sure to give a good reason on the talk page of why that website deserves to be on the external links section.

No problem, I was starting to get tired of the constant edit warring as well. Only admins have the ability to lock articles, the template at the top of the page is just a marker. You can find more info on page protection here. In general, becoming an admin isn't that big a deal, though you generally have to stick around for a while, while keeping a cool head before people will trust you with the house keys, so to speak. You seem to be off to a good start so far, keep up the good work. -Loren06:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
There was a heated discussion here & in a user's Talk Page in June/July 2007. The Hidden Commentary was added to prevent other users from time to time, unknowingly change its confirmation. Where exactly was the heated discussion? Whose talkpage was the discussion on? I'm just saying this because I believe the consensus made in the discussion held on Taipei 101's talkpage was not to put ROC instead of Taiwan.--Jerry13:42, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I get your point. But I believe the consensus was to put Taiwan instead of ROC when referring to the geographical location. Whether Taiwan is part of China or not doesn't really matter in this case. But I personally think that Taiwan isn't part of China either politically or geographically. This issue has been argued since 1990s. Most of the Taiwanese, though, think Taiwan isn't part of China.--Jerry19:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

The truth is, any article is somewhat POV. Yes, the Sears article is a bit jingoistic. The Petronas Towers were the 'official' world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004, according to the rules then in place by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The rules basically stated that spires count, antennas don't. End of story.Ryoung12202:36, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Generally, Wikipedia prefers screenshots and official promo images. As well, the images need to illustrate a key point of an article, which the image doesn't seem to do. -- Scorpion042205:08, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi again, I started a new discussion here and no one has replied (possibly means no one cares), do you have any opinion on this? If not, I think I'm going to modify the page (but I'll still leave the hidden comment there).--Jerry20:41, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Other than the "Taiwan vs ROC" issue, the article is pretty good. The TV networks in China are controlled by the Communist Party if you didn't know, they "make" you think Taiwan is part of China. The statement "Taiwan is part of China" is actually quite disputable and controversial even though it is true that the government administrating Taiwan is called the ROC. Many people, including me, think that Taiwan is actually a de facto nation with the de jure name of the ROC.--Jerry01:14, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hey, if no one cares at all, I'm just going to modify the page and remove the wpchina tag, since I believe that it'll be more neutral and will follow the naming conventions. I mean putting a wpchina tag there is just extreme POV, not even arguable.--Jerry19:44, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I believe the sources contain good information, but since a GA reviewer objected the use of the sources as references, I put them under external links. Most of the statements those sources backed up are already supported by another source anyways. Hope that's all right.--Jerry20:36, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's been no change in rules, unsourced cultural references sections have always been discouraged. The only reason all of the unsourced ones haven't been removed is because we don't have enough people to fight all of the IPs that would continually readd this "vital" information. -- Scorpion042204:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Everything needs a specific source so that things can be verified. It may be obvious to you, but not everyone is familiar with such things. If you can find a source, then it can go back in, but for now, no source. Without sources, we try to only stick to major parodies and songs, because like I said, if we tried to just outright remove the sections, we'd have to battle IPs. And, if you ever see any references that are questionable, then by all means remove them. -- Scorpion042204:46, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I think your reasons for reverting some of my edits (regarding the images) are reasonable, but the only thing that slightly bothered me is that you reverted all of my edits along with it, including the other unrelated additions I made to the History section. I'll assume good faith here and assume that it was an accident on your part, but it would be more helpful if you only revert the specific changes you disagree with rather than all of them. Now that I've got my rambling out of the way, I'm quite happy with the edits you made to the images in the article. Keep up the good work! Jagged 85 (talk) 03:00, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I sometimes make these kinda mistakes myself, hehe. By the way, the reason I moved the images around was to fix a problem on Mozilla Firefox where the "edit" options are screwed up, but after comparing it to Internet Explorer, I've just realized that my version causes problems on Internet Explorer. Do you have any idea why the image layout turns out differently on IE and Firefox or how this problem can be resolved? Thanks. Jagged 85 (talk) 03:11, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
==Re: Skyscraper ==
Might as well scrap the entire section? That section is good, and it explains how skyscrapers defined a skyline. I've been here long enough protecting that article from further abuse (You should see what it looks like 3 years ago!) and I feel biasness is in the air, and not good for the soul of Wikipedia. Shall we scrap the entire section for good?

I live in New York so I got the buzz on the new Bank of America Tower (New York). I could not find a reference (too lazy to look) so I took a photo myself yesterday of the spire, and pointed to it. The spire was finished around December 12. My photo is at www.hyzercreek.com/1200feet.htm Also I reworded your writing because my English is very good.Morgan Wright (talk) 19:08, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well thanks, as I far as I can see, you have a Singnet IP, and I guess you must also be from Singapore too. So am I. :) You should probably register and get a Wiki account.
Hi and thanks for your concern. Though that discussion was dated a long time ago, and might not have any effect discussing about my comment at this point of the time. Though I might consider this as canvassing, still, thank you very much.

Sure. Tags are essentially messages or memo sent between editors - "This article needs more citations", "Please cleanup this article" etc. As such, putting them at the top of the article, where they get in the way of the user of the encyclopedia, is not a good idea: they disfigure the page and make it more difficult to use. Putting them at the bottom is a solution to that problem. (Actually, it would probably be best if they went on the talk page.) Ed Fitzgerald (unfutz)(talk / cont)00:22, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on File:Autocad 2009 interfacewithVista.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. nn123645 (talk) 08:01, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey someformofhuman, I can't believe I found you here, small world. Anyway, I'm Borismct from the SimCity 3000 BBS, not sure if you remember me. lol I really can't believe it.Creez34 (talk) 21:28, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hey Borismct!! Of course I do remember you! Remeber the good ol' days of BAP yeah? Haha, you still BAPPing? I still remember those days in SC3URK BBS that's for sure! How are you doing?
Well, I haven't really BAPed in years actually, and I moved on to SC4, and I wanna buy Cities XL. But I still have a lot of interest in architecture especially skyscrapers, especially here in Chicago. But I kind of moved on to Aviation. Yeah, I can't believe they kept that site up so long. As for me, I'm doing good, I remember saying I was older than I really was on that forum in reality im only 18 right now, lol. anyway how are you doing these days? Creez34 (talk) 01:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, time flies. It's good to see you again. I remembered long ago I BAPped a few structures to get my interest going. So I guess you're studying Aviation now? Anyway I'm doing fine, I've just graduated from college, and I'm enlisting into the Army sometime the end of the year, I will be pursuing Architecture when I finish my mandatory army service for all guys in Singapore. I haven't been into the SC3 BBS for quite a long time too. It's amazing there are still BAPpers till this day! Someformofhuman (talk) 15:42, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I'm going to study aviation in College, and also US Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) which is an elective so when you graduate you and officer in the US Air Force. So I'm planning on coming out and becoming a fighter Pilot. Didn't know you were from Singapore, thats a place I'd love to see, some amazing architecture and looks like an all around great city-state, but that would be a good 10,000 dollar trip for me and about 20 hours traveling time from here. Anyway yeah I checked out that BBS about a week ago and there was still a couple of active posts. That game is 11 years old, cant believe it, lol you can get it for $8 now.
