Sexual Orientation
[edit]As far as I've seen it, there is no direct proof given for Loras' and Renly's love affair. There are rumours pointing into that direction, and quite some of them, but still: Is this any truly confirmed information? Otherwise I would suggest to mark the whole affair as "assumed". - Well I thought all the "hints" were rather blatant and were given as hints and innuendo for POV and cultural reasons within the story world, not because it was ment by the author to ambiguous. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure Martin came out and confirmed the relationship but I don't have that link on me. Anyone else have it? SSM@westeros? NeoFreak 18:19, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Looks like Martin confirmed it at the To Be Continued convention on May 6-8, 2005. Someone wrote to westeros.org to report it: "And speaking of Renly and Loras... George specifically stated 'Yes, I did intend those characters to be gay.' Not that we didn't already know that of course, but I don't believe it's ever been actually confirmed before." http://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Entry/1316/ -Captain Crawdad 18:44, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Spoiler thoughts
[edit]I removed Margaery's three marriages from the genealogy, because they're spoilery and there seems to be a general effort to segregate and label all spoilers in the articles. I'm personally indifferent on the issue, so I wouldn't mind seeing that section put back in if anyone feels strongly about it. Brendan 00:59, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Loras' "wounds"
[edit]I reworded the part about Loras being grievously injured trying to take Dragonstone. Only one character reports it happening, and since there's no omniscient narrator in ASOIAF, it seemed inappropriate to make such a definite statement. Stilgar135 02:13, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- The whole Loras entry seems pretty weird to me. A whole lot of noise is made of his supposed gay relationship with Renly Barantheon when there was absolutely no direct mention of it in the book and no overt hints at it either. MacMoney 07:16, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- Actually there are many references to it, from Jaime telling Loras "Now sheathe your bloody sword, or I'll take it from you and shove it up some place even Renly never found," in Storm of Swords, to Stannis telling Renly that Margaery would die a maiden in his bed, to Tyrion calling Loras "Renly's little rose," to Loras's suicidal rage after Renly death and his later talk of "losing the sun" when he explains his lack of interest in a wife, and many others. The relationship is a big part of their characters.Captain Crawdad 18:54, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- Martin himself has confirmed that Renly and Loras were lovers. It's in one of the "So Spake Martin" updates Stilgar135 20:46, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not to mention Petyr Baelish's description of Mace Tyrell's difficulties in finding a wife for a third son as being "doubly difficult" in the case of Loras. I question whether it's appropriate to describe Renly as Loras's "secret lover"; their relationship didn't appear to have been much of a secret. VoiceOfReason 19:50, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Mace's Picture
[edit]I don't know why that guy removed Mace's picture, but it's gone now, so reverting his edit won't help. A lot of the pictures that have been removed need to be uploaded back into Wikipedia the right way. -Captain Crawdad 07:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Not going to re-upload it, see discussion between Arbor and myself on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_A_Song_of_Ice_and_Fire#Image_Problems.--Paul Willocx 07:37, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
