QB Nation
[edit]QB Nation is a organization that develops young football players. The company is owned and operated by Canadian Football coach Jamie Bone and is based in London, Ontario. QB Nation's primary focus is on developing quarterbacks, however also runs programs for other skill position players (i.e. receivers, running backs, defensive backs, linebackers). The QB Nation website says its clinics focus on developing discipline, responsibility and accountability in every athlete, so they can be successful on and off the field. QB Nation's philosophy of "Get Prepped. Get Better"[1]
Clinics
[edit]Off Season Development Camps
[edit]Off Season Development Camps develop Quarterbacks, Receivers and Running Backs on Offense and Linebackers and Defensive Backs on Defence. The coaching staff implements a self correct system, which allows the athlete to understand the "whys" and not just the "hows", enabling them to self correct in real time[2].
This is done through sound fundamentals, clearly taught instruction and correct repetition.
Pre Season Advanced Quarterback Prep
[edit]The Pre-Season Advanced Quarterback Prep Camp is designed to prepare quarterbacks between the ages of 13-19[3] prior to the high-school football season or prepping players for the next step to the university level. The camp focuses on throwing technique and refinement, footwork/escaping the pocket, pressure/scramble drills, 3/5 step drops (under centre/gun), sprint out/play action (under centre/gun), quick release drills, handoffs/play action fakes, how to effectively read coverage, self correct, watch and evaluate opponent game video, understand zone and man concepts, individual video analysis of technique, effective voice and huddle management and leadership[4].
Passing Leagues
[edit]QB Nation runs a series of passing leagues for London Area High Schools in the off-season. The passing league is an 8 versus 8 round-robin formatted style of play. Teams attend the passing leagues to create team cohesion, in addition to implementing new offensive and defensive systems prior to their high school season. High School coaches do not attend.
Staff
[edit]Jamie Bone (Owner/Lead Coach)
[edit]Jamie Bone is a successful quarterback coach in Canada and the United States for over 30 years.
A standout quarterback at Western, he guided the Mustangs to two Vanier Cup championships, was a CIS All Canadian and was awarded the Hec Crighton Trophy as The Most Outstanding Player in the CIS.
After his collegiate career, he signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys, becoming the first Canadian Quarterback to sign with an NFL team.
Currently he's in his 8th season as Quarterback coach for the Western University Mustangs in London, Ontario, where he coached Mustang QB Will Finch to OUA MVP and All Canadian status in 2013 and 2015. He is also a National Football Academy certified coach teaching the Darin Slack self-correct system, and does clinics throughout the United States and Canada.
